I'm a low 20s handicapper whos been palying for a couple of years and i'm still using the same set of wilson irons (they also came with a couple of hybrids) that i got as a learner. I've just seen this offer:

http://www.fore24.co.uk/ - callaway diable edge irons

seems a decent price but are they worth it in the long run. Would i be better getting custom fits and what sort of price would i be looking at? At around 6ft1 I think i'm just over average height so am i running the possibility that these irons could be too short for me. I believe that the irons i currently use are just standard of the shelf.

Thanks for your thoughts

Most golf shops (if not all) have a trackman/swing analyser area for hitting some balls. Get in there and ask to have a hit with them and some others to see how they feel is what I would do. Likely to cost you nothing.

It is a decent enough deal if the clubs suit you and nobody here can really tell you that. Personally, I would be inclined to go to a pro shop with a decent inventory of second hand clubs and try a few, preferably under the eye of the pro.

If you really really want new shiny clubs, and I couldn't blame you for that, modern product cycles are so fast now that there is a steady supply of last years models coming out from all of the major manufacturers and pro shops keen to ditch them at a keen price. As above, I would encourage you to demo them under the gaze of a pro. A launch monitor and a pro would be even better.

On the custom fitting front, it is hard to say. I would say you are still in the average band, but that doesn't mean standard clubs are right for you. If you are built like an orang utan, you may need shorter than standard.
