As the title says really.

Since I have been a member on here I dont remember a month were there has been so much complaining or arguing. mayb its just me but a lot of people seem to be unhappy.... I am not talking about differences of opinion but some of the threads in my opinion have become personal or have only continued because people argue the same point over and over again (yes i do mean argue).

I understand that everyone has a view and have no problems with them being shared but GM decisions are queried, Mods are questioned.

This is not me having a go at anyone and I dont want a thread were people are explaining their actions or posts I just think the forum isnt a happy one at present.

Any one else feel the same?!?!?!

:(

I was just wondering much the same although I can't comment whether it's a new theme or just the way it is. Threads begin fine then can disintegrate and often I see a comment and wonder what possessed the poster to be so negative and blunt without (apparent) just cause. I don't get the bites at the mods either as surely they're doing their best to keep the forum "acceptable" to GM and therefore available for us all to use.

As a newcomer I think on the whole this place is great and the negativity not enough to keep me away rather than just disappointing...

Nope, if some people aren't happy that is up to them. We have had a great year impossibkw to nention them all, local meets, the centenary celebrations and plenty to talk about regarding majors, race to Dubai, pick your pro etc. the occasional bitchfest happens on every forum.
A lot of guys myself included have also had opportunities from GM to go to fittings, win competitions prizes etc, is the forum unhappy? I don't think so.

I was more talking about the "atmosphere" at times but like you say its the same everywhere!

Sadly, several of the regular posters who were here when I joined almost 3 years ago seem to have retired to be replaced with new much more arguementative posters.
I fully understand people will have different views on all subjects and discussion is healthy but I fear there are a few of the new breed who seem to go out of their way to pick a cyber fight on purpose and I'm afraid this isn't just limited to the normal posters.
Sad really.
I cant remember having so many locked threads and threads moved.
Rose tinted glasses? Maybe :(

Maybe with the introduction of the new free expert coaching site, I guess it's only a matter of time till I join Madandra, Freddielong, TonyN etc and leave you all to the bickering.

I'm happy (unusually so in fact).

There have been a few posts which have kicked off a bit recently, which is disappointing, as a healthy debate is more entertaining to read than a slanging match.

I don't expect every one to agree, or get on with each other, but it is nice to be civil.

May be it is SAD, and people aren't playing enough golf.

Roll on spring.

I have noticed that as well and the thing is the mods are really flexible its not like a thread gets locked after the 1st page.

Bob if you leave you will never sell another V-Easy think about your retirement

Ive only been on since earlier this year and I think it brilliant. There's a healthy mix of banter, controversy & valuable information. I don't do Facebook or any other forums but from what I've heard there's all sorts of problems, I think it's credit to GM & the mods that make this place really something special.
Generally I can spot a wind up post/thread from a mile off so i just ignore, simple.

Happy Christmas to you all, ...my new golfing buddy's.

When ever you have a thread relating to personal opinions then you will get disagreements. The big problem is when writing a reply it is too easy for it to come across in a way it was not meant to be taken. Most of the time if it was 2 people sat in the clubhouse chatting about these subjects then you would not see the arguments like has happened a couple of times.......

Merry Christmas one and all. I hope Santa drops that nice new shiny club down the chimney for you......

Crikey, I disagree with one slightly ambiguous thread and the whole forum is unhappy?..... ouchie!
I don't want forumers leaving to ask questions elsewhere, free OR paid, certainly not to use the forum to boost their own business presence without firstly at least being 'part' of the forum. Is that wrong?

MikeH is a top bloke, uber friendly and very co-operative, some people might just take advantage of that generosity, I'm not saying that's the way it is but he certainly can't 'police' all threads himself.

I certainly don't believe in criticising the mods, they're here for the love of the forum and as said many times before.. it's a thankless task, and they ALL do a great job.

There have been a few long winded posts lately, but they generally seem to benefit the few people who can be bothered to read/learn from them... and we've attracted some top class posters recently, not to mention the amount of forum meets seems to be on the increase....we even have 2 lady members who haven't been put off by the testosterone or foul language (yet!) :)

There are loads of possitives, sadly though I don't know who won the 'last person to post' thread....

....and most of us feel that Homer's swing won't really improve.......

I have been here a short time and feel the site is generally good humoured, friendly and helpful.

An internet forum will by design always create some differences of opinion and fallouts at times but the Mods on this site tend to do a good job keeping things under control.

Bob, you are very well respected here and your opinion seems always to be accepted by the members with little contest. I dont believe the new Video Site would encroach on the more one to one advice you give, it is more a beginers primer and nothing you cannot get already on YouTube, it just gives the information in one convienent place.

What exactly should a Forum like this do? Should it only be for PGA Proffessionals to give advice on golfing matters and the rest of the membership be restricted to asking the questions. I think most people like to be members so they can contribute with their own experiences and by and large help others. The British sence of humour used in many threads make the place something special in my opinion.

OK, its wrong to level personal insults and start name calling but does it happen that often. Again, as a recent member I congratulate the owners, moderators and members.

More than naybrains eh.

JO this was not directed at any one in particular (yes you have been a pain in the a$$ with THAT post/posts/rant/ what ever) but as bob said a few threads haven been locked recently.

There have also been replies that have been a bit quick of the mark recently that have then led to pointless arguments IMO and lost the essence of the original post or turned into farces.....

Please dont take this as being directed at you
