I bought my driver from a very reputable golf shop dont want to name names just yet.

Callaway x hot pro it is i went to trade it in at a local driving range where the lads who work there are also members at our club.

now they seem to think it may be a fake it has no serial number or barcode stamped on it and they said the paint work is abit tacky. so i went down to american golf to see if they had barcode and every callaway driver fairway and hybrid all had serial numbers.

im fuming and also embarrassed and hoping that the lads dont think i have tried to have them off.

is it normal for some to have no serial number.

Something does not sound right with it I agree. If all callaway drivers have serial numbers and yours doesn't I would be concerned. I would be going back to where I bought it from and having a calm chat with the manager.

Have you got any pictures? Did you compare the look of yours in American golf? Are the graphics sharp and in the same spot as the retail ones? Same colour shade etc?

Basically you have to speak with the 'very reputable golf shop' and tell them your concerns. I'm assuming you bought it second hand? Even reputable shops can make mistakes, give them the chance to rectify it before there's any public 'outing'

Not all Callaway irons have serial numbers but I believe all woods should have.
If irons have gone through the Custom Fit factory they use blank heads due to the need to bend for loft and lie and don't stamp a serial number.
But woods are fairly fixed, headwise, so they would use stock heads which should have a number.....
I'd follow DV's advice and go back to the shop.

I bought it brand spanking new was fitted for it. I'm going up today to see them the driver is in the pros shop so can't get any pics up of it. The paint work has never sat we'll with me either on the crown it looks like a dent when caught a certain light. Iv never been able to hit it since I got it it just sprays it all over shop

First and foremost you need to confirm with Callaway that the club is fake.

Once you have confirmation, you need to take the club back to the shop where you purchased it from and explain to them in no uncertain terms that you have had confirmation from Callaway this club is fake and consequently it has been mis-sold to you.

You should be offered a full refund but be prepared to only be offered store credit. Again that's not legal, you are entitled to a full refund if you want it.

guys crisis over the club was real but when i showed them the imperfection on the crown when at address the pro looked at it and noticed it had been compressed and give me full refund (credit note) and i got the free hybrid what i sold so all in all i have come out better off.

thanks for the replies

There's still a (small) possibility that it was a fake acquired somehow and the imperfection was simply an excuse - to save the reputation/embarrassment. But if you've got a refund/credit, then it's not a problem imo.
