I am pretty sure that there is a fairly mixed age range on here, so some will remember the buzz around the amateur Tiger Woods turning pro and the lift his career gave golf in the public eye.

The question is with Jordan Spieth being sold as the future of American golf will the public see that as a return to the fuddy duddy image?

I am sure he is a really nice guy but his interview after winning and subsequent interviews have been severely lacking in personality.

Yes!

Anyone who makes all other pro's have to up their games is good for the game which is the Tiger Woods legacy.

He comes across to me as articulate, confident and gracious, I hope he's a good thing for the game.

Are you suggesting Tiger's interviews displayed any charisma and personality because they never have done.

It was his game that gave the world of golf a "buzz" and the same can be true with Spieth or McIlroy.

I'd have thought him or A.N. Other youngster from the US is essential for the global pro game

Whether it needs to be Spieth or not is another matter

I like him. Seems hard working and very unassuming. Goes against the grain of American SUPERATHLETES who rule the world. I wonder if Nike will want to get their hands on him....

Absolutely, the kid's seems really grounded and has some heaven sent ability. Him and Rory will be going head to head for years in both the majors and ryder cups. Exciting times ahead.

Tiger Woods seemed pretty grounded for a long time then sort of just all fell apart for him after his dad died. I don't doubt that Speith would be a good role model for young golfers and that can only be a good thing. I just hope that corporate america doesn't get to him like they do with most young super stars. If so then his shelf life will be short lived.

Keep the head, like all of the well respected older guys.

The average ago on the forum is older than younger.

I personally think he is good for the game as for the most part its about golf and not interviews. You never know, behind closed doors he may be sleeping with 36 ugly blond woman.

Nike time for him soon? They do like to pinch Titleist pros!

I don't see how a supremely talented, professional young 21-year old player who's just dominated The Masters could possibly be bad for the game!

He is important for the game of golf to give the U.S. Public someone to look up

You could see as 19 year old back in early 2013 he had a lot of potential. I like watching him plot his way round the course.

And he's a short hitter too.

He is great for the game along with many other young golfers from America.
In fact it really looks like it is now a new era.
After Tigers good return at the Masters the future looks bright.

My question with Speith would be.

Are we already looking at the new no1 in golf.
Is he already better than Rory?

There won't be any shocks coming out of the closet with Speith as he is a God botherer.

Yes, he is good for golf. A bit dull, but that's no bad thing.

Great player and by all accounts a really nice guy, but does seem rather dull, and that may limit his appeal outside proper golfers.

He is not already better than Rory and I wonder if in today's power game he has the artillery necessary to really dominate.
