Was out walking the dogs tonight and we have walked past the local childrens play area that has a public toilet and an ice cream vendors hut and a small car park next to it. Theres a group of 4 or 5 teenagers no more that 14 trying to kick the door or the WC in, this was not budging so then they started chucking rocks at the windows which bounced off some distance and a few hit the parked cars. I told them to stop, but was just given abuse by them.... didn't have my phone so just carried on. and guess what they were girls and drunk 13 year old school girls at that!!!!

i get to the canal which is no more than 400 yards away and there parked up was a police car, so told them what was going on... im supprise they could no hear the noise as there was a fair bit of screaming.

The police could not have been less interested if they tried, its not the crime of the century i know, but you would have thought they would have at least had a word with them?

But no!

Call your area station and ask to speak to the Inspector or chief inspector [top dog] tell him/her your story . and ask if he could improve this situation. It worked for me, after wasting numerous phone calls reporting things to minions . Go right to the top you'll get results
.YOU SHOULDN'T BE HANGING AROUND TOILETS ANYWAY.

Gert onto the boss at the station and give him a rocket, letting him know in no uncetain terms that if if he / she does nothing you will be calling the local rag.

I've totally lost all faith in the police - having been brought up to respect and admire them. Too many instances similar to yours that I've witnessed or heard about. A few years back we were out for a cycle ride and about a mile from home some "youths" in a battered old Fiesta screeched past us and smacked David on the back with a baseball bat - great fun obviously. We got home and immediately called the police as we had the registration number and no doubt they were out for an afternoon of such hilarity. Well the police NEVER came round as they said they would. The local paper featured a story that week of a woman knocked off her bike and badly injured by a red Fiesta...

I contacted the newspaper to tell them of our incident and the fact the later one could have easily been avoided as it was close to where David was hit. It all got complicated from there but of course the police would cover up any wrong doing on their part...I just don't trust them anymore.

The good news though is there are always plenty around on the A14 catching the real criminals.

there are good and bad people in all jobs. To say you now don't trust the police because one incident wasn't actioned is frankly ridiculous.

@Patrick, did the parked up squad car officers actually say they would do nothing or was it their apathy that irked you? I'm surprised you didnt contact the station as not only was it vandalism to a public amenity, but there was private property damage which will involve insurance companies and costs. Also children intoxicated is not only illegal but could have serious problems and social services would be informed.

I'm fortunate to have only come across police who were conscientious in their duties. At the end of the day they are only human beings with all their flaws, but we do have one of the best police forces on the planet.

I used to live in Brighton. Horrible place. Streets were like a war zone at night time, out of control. Yet road of town for commuters was littered with cars waiting to issue speeding tickets.

Wahoo you go Amanda ..

Unfortunately for us all, alot of us can echo your sentiment .. even over here , problem is even the cops are disillusioned by the justice system .

Ok i know people will say its their job and all that , but when your in a job , any job , and it seems the people at the top dont care you will start to feel the same .. turn up get paid , go home , it may not be right but its a reality

the general apathy, they didn't head down to the location, in fact the car was still there 10 mins later. I gve full despriptions but they did'nt take any notes.

As i said in the OP, if i had my phone with me i would have reported it to the station.

I'd definitely escalate it up the chain and make a complaint. How police behave on the beat in the community is very important to reassure the public. Anti social behaviour by groups of youths can be frightening to many people and the police need to stop it.
