Is it usual to give the guys that look after our courses a Christmas Gift?

How many clubs or members give the green keepers etc a drink at Christmas? I will be going to see the chaps on Thursday, going to show my appreciation for the work they do making my golf as enjoyable as it is, but who bothers to say thanks?

I don't get a pint behind the bar from the greenkeeper for repairing 20+ pitch marks on the greens or raking bunkers which others have left a mess or replacing divots which crows have picked out.

Only joking I find it a very touching and novel idea.

I normally give to the catering staff Christmas box and the bar staff one. The head greenkeeper has been off with stress for the last 3-4 months (given the state he allowed our greens to get into I'd be stressed) and to be honest none of them really seem up to it so I wouldn't dream of tipping them. If they can't get the basics right why reward them

I usually make a point of sticking my head in the brew room and saying thank you, and if I know when they're having their Christmas meal I leave some money behind the bar for a beer.

is the bar staff fit? lol

Our head greenkeeper is a really good bloke, but after some of his pin positions this year, I think he may need to keep off the booze.:mmm:
