We run 3 individual KO Match-play Competitions.... All Club, Rabbits, Tigers
A typical scenario could be...... a player is off 15 H/cap or less when they sign-up but get shots back during the season to perhaps 16, 17 or 18.
So what H/cap should they be able to use when playing their next rounds in the Tiger's Match Play KO?

A - No more than 15

B - Their current CONGU H/cap even if it is more than 15?

What is the Rule at your Club?

Any club KO is run using Official Club Congu HC

There are limits in some KO but all members using the same Congu HC

So if the limit for entry is for 'Players with H/caps of 15 or less'..... do you allow them to play off higher than 15 if they go up during the season?..... or do they have to 'play down'.. ie.15 max

what are Rabbits and Tigers??? other than animals of course;)

Bloody good question
Rabbits (Arctic Hare in the Far-North) H/caps 16 & above
Tigers (Snow-leopards in your case) H/caps 15 & below - though more exactly 8 to 15..... OR.... All are ruddy 'Chompers' using Bomber & Doylie's definitions :D

so its like "diggers, chompers and weekend warriors"?

Seems like a load of old tosh, can't see why they would need anything else other than the congu handicap.

club i used to be had them, allowed them to play comps/matches with similar handicaps, it seemed to be as there was plenty of options for the lower handicaps, the higher handicaps alternative

Yeah... can certainly seem 'like a load of old tosh'....... when your giving a shot a hole to someone who's tee-shots are only 20yds behind yours...... or has have you never experienced that??

Forgetting all the names for each HC band

If a comp has a max HC of 15 than HCs above can't play , same if the lowest HC is 15 - only 15 and above can play

can you point me to a rule for this please, we have one we cap but allow higher handicaps to play in it off that cap

I think each Club will set their own rules, I'm just interested to hear how others organise such things.

So... to clarify..... Its a 15 & below KO Match Play Comp running all Summer..... a player is 15 h/cap when they enter but get shots back & go to 16 or more..... Question is.... are they 'capped' at 15 when they play the next round/rounds??

Wait till your giving them 2 shots a hole it's a bit harder but to be honest if you need to be giving them shots it's for a reason, normally they tend to need them.

should be allowed to play and capped at 15 imo

instead of giving them shots back and taking shots away would it not be better to give them a range token

The normal situation is that any handicap rules applicable to their entry to a competition are applied on entry. In the case of the sort of competition you have outlined here players would be reassigned at the time the draw is made to the appropriate section.

During the competition you play off your CONGU handicap, you don't start limiting handicaps - by that logic if a player in the above 15 handicap section had been cut to 10 are you going to play him off 16? I don't think so...so why should a player who's gone up suddenly be restricted in some way? Poppycock 😎
