Mine is up for renewal but the small print states:

Golf Equipment cover in a vehicle The Underwriters have updated the Exclusions sec on of the Golfing Equipment sec on of the policy - see p16; 6.4; (v); The of golf equipment from a vehicle will not be covered a er you have returned to your home or other accommoda on, or place of work or educa on a er playing golf. The from a vehicle will not be covered if the vehicle is accessed using a device to overcome keyless entry systems.

Do you think the policy still covers you "before" your round of golf....just not after golf once you move your car from the club car park?

Also excluded.

being left unattended unless there is evidence of entry to the premises in which it was
last present by Forcible and Violent means. The incident must be reported to the police
and a crime reference number obtained and provided to Us

Honestly speaking I have never had insurance. I don’t take risks of hitting into groups. But I do believe you can play the game safely and not require insurance.
As for loss or stolen property that’s what the insurance really should be covering but there is a crossover between home and car insurance as well … give an insurance company an opportunity to not pay out and they won’t.
My home insurance does cover my kit as does my car insurance

If you are a club member then the EGU fee you pay gives you basic cover, for injuries, being sued and the like.

I had club insurance once but having read the small print of the restrictions I realised I would not be getting a payout for my gear, predominantly second hand and so no receipts, and so stopped it.

Yes you’re right there is a line in the subs about this insurance.

Be careful with regard to insurance provided by the club. We had a recent email regarding a car being hit by a wayward shot and the individual was hit with a £500 bill for the excess. If you get your own it may have less excess.

Colleague of mine made a claim on his dedicated golf insurer, it was accepted but they advised that as he was insured via his home insurance too they would pay, which they did. His home insurance increased the following year as he had a claim on his policy.

Got an email Through about insurance last week from Golf Care. The policies ranged for £26-£50+, was tempted at that price until I looked properly. I get better cover with my car, home and travel insurance already included in those plans than what anything Golf Care was offering. Plus the caveats of how they wouldn’t pay just made the policy completely irrelevant.

As mentioned we get liability insurance through the EGU fee and our club membership covers us for hole In one insurance if we have one whilst playing there. If never had one at an away club I would only buy my group a drink anyway sod the rest of the strangers 😂

How much is insurance these days..?
I used to have a policy but gave it up some ti e back..

I pay sixty quid for the top policy, which is all the usual, plus £10k equipment, any course grounds, locker, car, hole in one bar tab (!) etc.

Mate has the same policy, dumped his £2k trolley in the lake and without any report received full payout, including some clothhes, rangefinder, regripping etc.

Who is that with please?

I’ve got my golf gear on my home insurance, it’s in the valuables part that are insured for away from home. Think I put the total value at £6K or something like that.

Maybe this isn't the thread for this moan, but insurance just feels like a huge rip off unless the claim runs into a huge amount of money. Any smaller claims are just recouped from the insurance providers, when they inevitably whack your premiums up in the following years.
