Morning All,
I was just wondering if anyone has played around Torrevieja, Spain as I am planning a couple of trips next year and I do not have an offical cert for my handicap, just wondering if anyone has been that hasnt needed one? Also which courses you dont need one on?

I have played at Campoamor and Villa Martin in that area, and neither of them asked me for a certificate, but my experiences of playing in Spain and Portugal are a bit mixed. Some courses ask for a handicap cert and others don't. I have always had one with me so I don't know what they say if you haven't got one. My guess is that they may ask what your handicap is and let you play. They want the money after all.

Thanks for the advice I spoke to the old man and he said they dont ask all the time. I will be playing Villamartin & Las Ramblas and maybe Campormar (depending if I can get the wife to agree).

As a tour operator who sells golf holidays in Spain, I can confirm that, so long as you are not a complete hacker, you will not asked to produce a handicap certificate. They only ask when there are people on the course who are either incompetent or whose etiquette is not up to standard. Failure to produce one will then result in the offenders being asked to leave the course. Having said this, it's always best to have one... just in case. One more thing. The courses in this area get very busy. 5+ hour rounds are not uncommon.

Hi pcowgill,

Any advice you can give on good places to visit in February with a novice golfer. I have now played abroad but am looking to take my wife away for a golfing holiday. She is good enough to get a handicap but does not have one and I could do with taking her somewhere where she will not feel too pressured and self concious for her first round abroad.
