Looking for tips on the best way to use irons.
Chief Exec is away on an emergency mission looking after an elderly relative and I am very inexperienced on the use of irons.
She has left a bit of a pile of clean clothes and told me to not even attempt to touch them.
I thought it would be nice if I finished them on her return.
Ours is some sort of steam affair.

Might post later on washing machine settings.

You don't understand how this works do you!

Washing machine setting are the limit!

And where better than a golf forum.

Don't grip too tightly. Line everything up carefully then just swing easily through with a smooth even rhythm. Keep your head down and don't be tempted to look up too soon. Avoid taking big divots. And remember that accuracy is more impoprtant than power.

unbelievable thread

SWMBO is away and your planning on doing ironing:rolleyes:

ironing service- best £35 you'll spend and everything neat and sellophane wrapped on hangers.

quick hoover and dust (that will last a week) then get on the golf course, fish suppers afterwards, beer when you get home, golf channel and movies 27/7 with a smattering of prawn just to keep things balanced:whoo:

repeat daily..............

I see the lessons route has already been suggested and while there's merit in this I think your cash would be better spent on buying yourself a new shiny Iron

Many of the high street retailers will offer a fitting service but be aware that they may simply push you towards an Iron that's on promotion etc and will simply end up having the shirt off your back

There are specialist fitters out their and if you allow a half day to go through the range you'll be sorted with the right kit for you

Also online forums and YouTube can be a great place for tips etc but don't believe everything you see & read

You do need to decide carefully when you'll do your Iron work or risk being branded a weekend warrior by some

Lastly you don't want to be 'that guy' so pay close attention to the etiquette you display and in particular the pace of which you Iron. Allow faster Ironers through to use your Iron and clear off (after all its still more fun than being in the office) and to prevent excess damage you should develop a pre-iron routine that your comfortable with and that's easily repeatable. Remember to start with the basics of Posture, Grip & Alignment and you wont go far wrong

Let us know how you get on and the score you manage to get (remember everyone has to start somewhere)

Edit: and for gods sake if you happen to be invited to iron at some one else's place, please check out the visitor dress code first!

I'm looking at the pile right now and weakening.
Given the fitted sheet serious consideration, just where do you start?

I would start by not ironing a fitted sheet! dont iron anything you dont see on first glance! (ie in winter, just iron the front of a shirt, dont bother with back or sleeves if wearing a jacket.)
