Alright folks,

I am going to change my irons for some new shineys in the next 2 weeks and am really interested in getting either Titleist Ap1's or Ping G25's. i know the g25's get really good right ups and have hit a demo ap1 before. I will go and try them before buying but was hoping for your experiences with these specific irons or any recommendations in same bracket are welcome.

Cheers

I can personally vouch for the ap1s I've got the 710"s and love them, much better than my previous x16's which I was happy with until I tried the titleist irons shortly after launching, really consistent Through the set, nice high ball flight which I like, can sometimes struggle in high winds. Not all the clubs mind, I've always sent them high.

Personally think the pings, well at least the g range to be too clunky, a friend had the i20 which are nice. My brother plays the g10 really well too mind. As usual personal preference is usually the best way.

Enjoy the new shineys, irons don't come round too often so enjoy the pondering an final choice!

Thanks mate, appreciate it. I know ap1's are meant to be game improvement irons but dont think im good enough for ap2's. have always thought the g range in pings were chunky like u said but the 25's definitely dont seem as big as previous versions. Always thought the i range was for better players. My game is getting there but feel i still need an iron that will help when needed.

What about the Mizuno 825 Pro?

I've been playing the 800 Pro since last year off an 18 handicap and have no problem hitting them at all.

The i20's were just loaned to me by a friend when I got back into playing last year after some time away from golf. They were great but when I got myself a set to use and call my own the budget just didn't quite stretch that far so I ended up with S58's.

I have actually just bought a set of Adams irons to replace the S58's today though!

Try the callaway xhot pro. They look like a cracking set of irons and if I was changing would be one of the ones to look at.

Was hoping you'd post wolfman. Whats the diff between the 25's and the 825 pro's you have?

Difference is accuracy and ease of use, but they are not as pretty

I still have my JPX 825 Pro and may hold on to them for the future, the G25 just give me a higher % of accuracy on approach shots

They are very slightly longer in distance but that may be difference in lofts but they are a lot more forgiving as i guess they are intended. The JPX Pro are still easy to hit assuming you have consistent iron play, hard to say one is much better than the other

For me the G25 is nearly 100% perfect ( they lose a few marks only in looks )

I'd personally wait a few months and see what the next i range are that Ping bring out.
I had the i15's and loved them, found the G series to be too "clunky" as others have said.

Go and try plenty you may be surprised.

Don't believe any of this stuff about clubs being too good for you, it all depends on your ball striking.

I had the old AP2's with NS pro 950 shafts - these were stock off the shelf sticks. I changed 2 years ago to the custom fitted Ping Anser with Project X 6.0. Hadn't played with Ping since my junior days and will never go back. I would go for the club fitting if you can, it really makes a difference.

Happy shopping.

I've had the G20s now for a couple of years and do like them as they are easy to hit but I also am interested in the AP1s so the best thing to do is try them both and see what results you get from them both or any other clubs that have been suggested that you might like too
