A good of mate has give up the ghost on a set of blades he picked up cheap few years ago for around 100 quid.. (must say awful clubs to hit) (No brand name or anytyhing like that on them lol)

Anyways, hes got 250 spare now and i have chatted him into getting some irons that he might be able to hit.

As he plays of 25 anything is going to be better than what he has at the mo. Tho want to try and find him a good branded 2nd hand set of irons something like a X18's etc.

But want to ask on here to see if any of you guys have any ideas on a club that would suit him best.

many thnaks
steve

Get onto Pings website, do the online custom fit with him and then look on ebay for a decent set of second hand pings, either I3,G2, or possibly even G5 in said colour code.

£250 will buy him a decent set of second hand Pings that are more suited to him than standard fit off the shelf irons. Thats my advice.

Showed him my G2's tho does not like the offset style of the ping..

Hard man to please lol tho might take him to the range with mine see if he can get onto them.

Might even sell mine to him and get myself some i3 oversized irons, always liked them.

You mentioned the x18's

I'll have a set for sale within the next week.

For under £250, Wilson Fat shafts are around the £150, Adams have a set for about £200, after that i think MD, Benross etc. would be the best bet, unless he's wanting a Ping/Callaway/Nike/Taylor Made etc, then i think he'd need to go second hand.

Playing off 25, a little offset may be a good thing. He should try the Pings, it might be a revelation, regardless of what they look like.

Any thing which is likely to help him, will have a thicker top line, and some offset. Otherwise he may as well stay with his old blades.

hunt is over...

He ordered himself a new set of Di7's i think he told me 189.99

dont seem bad

YES!!! Exactly what I would have suggested. They are great clubs, I almost regret getting rid of mine, if my MX2O0 were not so good.
