Right now I have the Project X 6.0 shafts in my irons, they're flighted. Recently I've been playing in a lot of wind and I've been noticing that even when I'm trying to play punch shots the ball is ballooning up in the air no matter what.

I've not had the same problem with any of my woods or my 2 iron which has a X100 SL shaft in it

I definitely don't need x-stiff shafts throughout the bag

My thought is would a heavier shaft help at all. Or is there another shaft that you would recommend that promotes a lower ball flight or doesn't balloon as much?

Or am I talking gibberish

Thanks all

Flighted PX are designed to be progressive through the set so the longer irons are potentially easier to launch and vice versa.

PX are a funny shaft in that they are designed to be a low launch low spin shaft but it does not work like that for every player. Also PX flighted are a little softer then normal PX. Your 6.0 are equivalent to normal PX 5.5.

There is some random info.

Anyhow, I use really heavy shafts, they launch really high but go really forwards. So it can help but I am sure it will be said so I'll say it... You would be better to learn to play a less launchy, spinny shot

Oh edit,PX are a counter balanced shaft so lots of weight in the butt and X100s weight profile is more spread through the shaft. Try the Modus 125S that I use, it's an X100 profile with some feel and less stiff but with a stiffer tip... It might mimic the results your getting from your X100?!

Thanks for the advice Alex, I have been trying to launch the ball lower, it's been working with my driver and 3 wood as I said, I do have a naturally high ball flight, was wondering if there may be a shaft that could help matters a bit as well, I'll keep an eye out for the Modus now thanks again
