ok so at my away course there is oobs left right and back at the first hole. so ive started taking 5 iron off the tee and leaves about 8 to pw wind dependant. I explained my new way to my two playing partners. ahh davy that's good if your worried about oob. yes boys I am . so I hit a cracking 5 iron middle of fairway . feeling quite good about it and with about 150 I took my 8 iron out. don't want to be big as theres a big drop at the back of the green. and I proceeded to massively hook it into the caravan park on my avatar!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:o:o what a plonker

I was playing in blustery conditions today so regularly faced a shot directly into the wind. Rather stupidly i didn't go a club longer with lower loft into the wind, I just tried to smash it and we all know what happens when you try to rip the ball :( it didn't take me long to change my plan of attack.

Still, a good card today off the whites and I can't wait to see what the handicap sec will do given my first 2 cards of the whites for handicap weren't clever

Grand- I've decided that I'll be playing the course more than 10 times over the next year so I'm just gonna pay an annual fee. Will join the Sunday club too if that's still alright?

ETA- I think I'm moving back to Ayrshire within the next 7-10 months too so will most likely make this my main place of play for a while.

I started doing this on our 3rd, hitting a 6 iron down the fairway then having an 8 or 9 iron into the green.
With water on either side of the fairway but too long to reach with a 6 iron it seemed a good idea, trouble is with a good strike and the roll of the fairway I kept getting it behind the trees, under the electric cables that run across the hole or worse still kicking on into the water.
Now I play a driver so I hit it over the trouble and have a short pitch with a lob wedge onto the green. I have driven this green three times in the last 6 months with a tail wind and no roll!
