Anyone else going tomorrow or sunday? Taking the wife and kids tomorrow, their second time and my God only knows how many. Currently jumping around like a kid in a toy shop, can't wait!

I like Maiden, specially the early stuff, Dickinsons voice does get on my nerves after a while though :D
Saying that, you can't beat a bit of Rime Of The Ancient Mariner to get the juices flowing.

Not seen Maiden for a while, but did see the Somewhere in Time tour at Newcastle city hall and did get all the bands autographs. A whole crowd of us had waited and we all got invited back inside and they put us into the stalls, but in everyother row. The band then walked down the emtpy seat rowsm chatting to us and signing programmes, albums etc...

Was really good to get that close to them and have a brief chat.

I havent seen them since Dickinson left after the Fear of the Dark tour back in 93.

Stopped following the actively after that but still put some of their oldies on from time to time, Alexander the Great still remains one of my favourite songs.

Did you know that during ATG, the drum rthym was so complicated during the middle part of the song, Nicko had to wear earphones to isolate him from the rest of the band.

Saw them back in 2000 on the Brave New World Tour. One of the best gigs I've ever been to.

Not listened to them much lately, but have to get my fix every now and again so crank up Seventh Son of a Seventh Son (first metal album I ever owned!)

General practice with drummers mate both live and in the studio, has to be done to make sure you can hear everything clearly. Alternatively he could be playing to a click to help him keep time in the tricky section.

So jealous. Was on the verge of booking tickets, then bottled it due to the cost. :(

Most of their newer stuff is very average (Brave New World is the exception as that album is nearly flawless), but they are still absolutely incredible live.

Hoping they'll do a larger UK tour next year touring the Maiden England set list, but not holding my breath.

Glad I bottled it in the end, as a mate of mine is back from KL for a week this weekend, so a bunch of us are heading out for dinner. Should be a good craic.

Have seen Maiden 27 times over the years, first gig was the beast on the road at Glasgow apollo, what an experience. Dont rate the newer stuff, brave new world being the exception. Still fantastic live.

Only seen them once in Germany as a warm up band for Kiss Live (unmasked) around 1980, great concert.

Nicko using a click?!? Hope you're brave enough to suggest it to him!

Its funny how there newer stuff splits opinion. Ive been a fan of theirs since NOTB days but I think their newer stuff is superb. Horses for courses and all that...

He was, I remember seeing an interview where he explained it all.

Always remember Maiden being played at the Mayfair rock disco and when Die with your boots on was played the lyrics were always change to

"If you're gonna shave, then shave with a contour"
or
"If you're gonna die, then die with a <infraction possibility>" but rhymes with "card won"

Don't get me wrong, I *like* some of it (BNW is utterly genius, Dance of Death is good and Final Frontier was a grower, but ultimately a good album). AMOLAD was decidedly average, and I'm not a huge fan of Kevin Shirley's production work...But none of it compares to any of the albums from Piece of Mind through Seventh Son!

although, I do prefer Rock in Rio to Live After Death *ducks*
