Irish players are taking the game over. Clarke and McGinlay took first and second place in Holland. Not to mention Harrington. It must be something they put in the Murphy's.

Great stuff. It's a superb course, and I'm pleased to see the comp back at Kennemer. I've played all 27 (a few times) and none of it is a push-over. Amazing that the World's press insist on describing the venue as Zandvoort.....

Did they describe the Open venue this year as Southport? I think not, it's called Royal Birkdale. The course is called Kennemer......

Where were the Dutch players....??

Good for the Irish guys, north or republic.....

I am thrilled for Clarke I really do like the guy, and with a bit of luck Casey can win in the States to cap off a great week for GB. As for the Irish dominating they have some top tracks as well as that luck that comes from drinking the Guinness and it is no surprise that they produce some of the great players in the game.

I think Clarke has done enough (in my book anyway) to persuade Faldo of his worth. He has been a lot more consistent of late and I think it would have been easy for him to lose focus today worrying about getting the job done and impressing Mr Faldo but he held it together well to win in style.

If he can have a solid week next week I think he will (should) be one of the picks especially given his form, love of the competition and his strong partnership with Westwood

And there is Rory McIlroy to come
Yesterday was our Captains day and Rory was out on the practice range getting some fine tuning from our pro, his swing looked as good as ever, I just cant see how he hasnt accomplished more this year, I believe it will all come together soon.

I maybe British, well Born & live in England but I seem to prefer watching the Irish Golfers & the Scotish & Welsh golfers as well over the English golfers. The Irish players seem more natural & I feel more in common with them & its not just because I have Irish & Scottish roots in my liniage.

I really do prefer to watch Clarke, McDowell & co'.

There again I really enjoy watching Jimenez etc too As well as the Danish & Sweedish players.

The likes of Rose & Donald just don't do it for me.

The likes of Casey & Poulter have a Flair many English players don't seem to have.

There is really only one English player that seem to have the natural character of the Irish & that is Kenneth Ferry. There again he comes from my original part of the world.

Perhaps We need to drink more Guinness to improve our game.
