Missis T is looking to book somewhere tonight in west Ireland, Knock area. Not got a clue where to stay for a base to play and sightsee. She will be booking tonight so any ideas re towns, what area to stay and play.

cheers everyone.

Ballina to the north is a good place to base yourself, puts you close to some superb courses.

Carne (Belmullet) Enniscrone, Rosses Point, Co Donegal

Bloody hell, Missis T was there on a phalanx holding course six months ago at a big medical supplies company ( Hollister) and stayed at Ballina. Ice hotel ? Anyway she told me to stay there.
She has already seen a place. Looks like that could be a short and sweet blog.

Cheers Drive 4 show.

Can I add Strandhill as one worth a look. It usually overlooked because of Rosses Point and Enniscrone but is a nice track and not as big a journey as Donegal if you want to keep mileage down a bit.

Ballina booked for August, now all I have to do is book two courses.

Thanks for the heads up boys.

Carne and Enniscrone are the only two courses you should even consider when staying in that area.

I haven't played Carne yet but it's top of my "must play" list at minute and hoping to have it ticked off this year and Enniscrone is just a fantastic golf course.

If you stay around Galway that pretty much has you about an hour from Limerick where I live.
It's about half way along the west coast of the country so a 2 hr drive each side of you in Galway and you could probably safely cover the whole west coast of the country. There heaps of links courses too. Lahinch in Clare and BallyBunion in Kerry are 2 nice courses but a little on the saucy side for price.
