So what have you tried, what are you using and what would you recommend?

I've got a couple on there to try this weekend, but I'm interested in what others have. Haven't paid for any yet, but willing to if they come highly recommended.

This isn't a thread on the pro's and cons of iPhones - move along if you're not interested!!

Use Golshot for gps and works great and is really accurate having checked with the sprinker head markers.
Also have iswing but haven't used it yet.

Hi. Long time no see!

I've used iSwing to video the golf swing it even saves 15 or so frames as stills, which I 'cut' in photoshop and pasted the individual frames into 'iAnalyzeGolf' which gives side by side with a Pro analysis.

I believe that the V1 analysis app is available now as well. I should have waited for that!

I've downloaded Sonocaddie. Looks good, but sadly my course is not listed. Also got a trial version of Viewti, first 3 holes only, which looks awesome. But I've not bought the paid app as the course is changing massively in a month.

Which leads me to Freecaddie GPS. With this I can walk the new course and input my own points of interest, greens etc. No need for Google Earth to plot the points. Anyway, it's not as if there'll be a new picture of that bit of the countryside for quite a while.

Got the PGA Tour app as well (it's free).

For fun also have Tiger Woods PGA Tour. It's actually pretty good. Let's Golf is also pretty good and in the same vein.

Golf Rules is the app version of the rule book I sell. Very quick and easy to use, but you're probably beyond that!

That should get you started!

Freecaddie is a great piece of free software. The only issue I find is that the battery is not up to the job, but I believe that the 3GS has longer life battery.

Used to use TeeShot Live, but since EA took over it is terrible,

Got ViewTi GPS. Quite good. Don't like the input method myself.

Mainly use golfshot GPS now. Mainly for scoring and occasional GPS info.

Also have PGA Tour for current event scores. Lets Golf, fun golf game.

Also tried myCaddie, Caddy Lite, Plum Caddy, Caddy and iYardage. None of them are that great.

I've tried FreeCaddie but again don't like to score tracking and stats.

I have golf logix which is pretty good about £23 but has interseting features abit slow to respons but 23 compared to 200 seems fair

Cheers guys, I've downloaded a few of those to play with.

Hapless - just a year ago when we played at your place we were both out of work - looks a bit different a year on!

:)
