hi all, before you say this should be in 'out of bounds' just wanted to know if anyone is aware of any iPhone apps which use GPS/Course maps to track your position/distances etc on a golf course?
with GPS and maps it should be pretty simple to calculate your current distance from the tee (to judge tee shot lengths) and then distance to the green/bunkers etc

There are loads knocking about the app store but they all seem to be aimed at America, I never found anything with a UK course on when i last looked, but that was a few months ago.

yeah i've seen several but unsure whether suitable for the UK and whether they're going to do what i want. lots of them carry course info for score tracking purposes but not much info on the GPS side.

Just searched it on the app store, its £20.99

5 reviews give it 4.5 stars.

Tried to view courses available on website but not loading. There is a free version which I think allows you to play the first hole of the course to trial it.

Reading the reviews it would appear to be very good. Apparently the customer services from the company is great and has been mentioned in a couple of different reviews.

Check it out for your self.

Actually they do have the brabazon.

I just downloaded the free version to play about with it, for £20 that is going to be a great app.

It brought up all the listed courses and put them in order closest to me, I scrolled down and found the brabazon.

Clicked Start Round and it loaded the first green within seconds and then told me I was 120265 yards from the middle of the first green with a very clear google earth image.

I input a score of 4 and it told me I was E for the round :D I wish.

It provides Tel No, Address details of course length, par and type(i.e Resort or Muni)

Option to view scorecard and save course to phone.

I clicked on the address and it immediatly plotted the shortest route on google maps using the phones 'sat nav' software.

Very very impressive.

Really should have put this in the review section, I think I will!

TonyN - i guess you can't tell from the demo - but do you think it plots the distance FROM the tee? i.e. driving distance?

i purchased it but it was declined as my card's address is wrong on itunes. doh! sort tonight

No it plots from where ever your standing even if it is 80 miles away. Problem is it only shows the last say 100 yards of the hole.

Visit the website all though I never got it too load.

Alternate method is D/L the free software onto your phone and use the search feature
