iPad to TV?

Hi all, anyone know if it's possible to connect the iPad to the TV, it's just a normal flat screen not a smart TV. t has a USB port that fits the connections to the iPad but it just comes up no device inserted.

any help would have to be in lehmans. Not really computer minded

nice one for the advice. It appears you can't flip skygo from one to the other. Main reason I was asking. Cheers
