Anyone got any opinions which is the better of these two tablets ?

It won't be used to synch with other devices or anything complicated like that. It'll just be used for internet browsing, email, viewing videos, storing photos and music. It won't be used for gaming.

I realise that these used to be Apple's strong points but just wondered if anyone had any opinions one way or the other.

Just want something with a bigger screen than a phone or iPod.

I'm not really bothered which is the "coolest" .;)

only thing that lets apple's ipads & phones down is lack of java/flash support

based on the fact it wont be synched etc then maybe an alternative is the better idea. I do have an ipad tho and its great, looks lovely sat on its dock 24/7 (as I prefer my pc)

iPad is nice although limited by the apps you purchase.

No flash is not good and detracts from a fantastic experience.

It is also dependent on sync with iTunes for best results and usability.

If I chose again, I wouldn't choose iPad.

Steve...

I love my iPad... fantastic screen, I don't find any problem not having flash and it certainly hasn't hampered my viewing surfing experience... but then again I love my iPhone, MacBook, AppleTV and iPod too :)

It is expensive but such a great device and for web surfing is available almost straight away from pressing the button to switch it on.

I love my iPad, using it now. But, wifi keeps dropping out. Drives me nuts.

No flash, no USB port.

No plug in for the net either (wifi is junk in china).

It has limitations.

Know nothing about the other tablets though.

+1 for the iPad.

Wasn't a big fan originally, never saw the point in tablets, but the other half talked me into getting one earlier this year, mainly for taking away with us when we are on holiday. Bit of surfing, take some films to watch on the plane, checking e-mails etc.

I've got to say I'm a convert.

The playbook had just been released in the states and was on display in one of the electrical stores in the airport and I had a mess around while I was waiting for the flight.

It looks a good device but I didn't find it as easy to use as the iPad. That's the thing about apple stuff, it just works.

I have an HP Touchpad which is ideal. I only use it to browse as the wife is always doing work stuff on te laptop.

It's ideal for what I need and use it for.
