If you have been invited along to a club invitational day by a friend etc and you arrived at the course

Would you expect a goody bag ? And what would you expect to see inside one ?

And what would you think would give guests a nice welcome feeling ?

No wouldnt expect one at all. In the past when ive seen these they have included tees, ball markers, pitch mark repairers, caps, balls. Nice to get but expect more hassle than theyre worth for the club.

Alternative Ive seen at a few days is they are provided by sponsors, similar contents but with said sponsors logo everywhere, and sometimes include sponsor specific gifts

The most valuable thing Ive received has been vouchers for a return round (either free or heavily discounted)

I would not expect any thing. If it was a corporate day that would be different. Sleeve of balls, ball marker, to well and pitch mark repairer.

Not sure if your mugging us off or not with the goody bag question Phil but no i wouldnt expect one :D

If the guest doesnt get a nice feeling by being invited in the first place they need their bumps feeling!

Been to three invitational days this year

two at away courses and i responded with kind at ours

At the two away courses both had a bag of goodies for each guest including ( not every item at each course )

Free 18 holes
Course planner
Ball marker
Sleeve of marks with courses crest on

Looking to improve ours for next year.

Nothing like that at ours and not something I would expect. As some people buy one anyway, a ball marker and a course planner would be a nice touch but not expected

The nice touches is exactly what im looking to implement next year

All great ideas/touches Phil
But NOT something I've ever encountered in my area

In the past I've invited a guest
Paid entry
Paid for anything in shop guest/partner wanted , refreshments etc , and stood 1st round afterwards in bar , incl food

I'd be happy receiving this in return

Personally I would not expect a goody bag, I am very happy to be invited as a guest and generally my host has paid. However a goody bag is a nice touch and a souvenir of the day.

I have been invited to a charity day on Wednesday and will probably take a box or two of balls for our group to use and hopefully will get to the bar first as I know my host won't take any entrance fee from me + a reciprocal invite as soon as possible thereafter.

If its just an invite for a round from a member then that in itself is sufficient but if its larger scale as in an Invitational day with bigger numbers involved then they are a nice touch

On top of the things already mentioned like markers/balls etc I've had drinks/energy bars for the round on the low key days (even suncream on one occasion)

Club/sponsor branded caps are nice goodies to receive & golf top/shoe bag/brolly etc if the budget stretches or for more lavish days

In our area it's generally an invitation to play, usually with the entrance fee paid by the host and possibly lunch etc. Never heard of anyone giving/receiving a goody bag unless it's a corporate type event. Then it would usually be maybe pack of 3 logo balls, a few tees and maybe a course planner etc.

Can't ask for more than that.
I guess somewhere there is an invitational day where the guest receives a complimentary set of clubs and power trolley with trackman fitting, vintage champagne at the turn, a bottle of brandy, commemorative swiss watch with club crest, mont blanc scorecard holder and pen, jacuzzi and massage and 7 course meal. The point is, the harder you try to outdo what is essentially courtesy and generosity - the less sincere it seems to become. Goody bag? Give me a pint and a chat instead.
