Played in a Charity Day at a local Parkland course today.

The two other guys i played with were both from Links courses as well one being off 22 at Royal Dornoch.
the other off 16 at Fortrose.

Everyone else playing was a member of a Parkland course.

we were 1st 2nd and 3rd.

The 22 handicapper won with 49 points ( he played steady with no blobs) I was 2nd with 40 points ( Level par Gross)

and the 3rd was well 3rd also with 40 points ( i had a better inward half)

Both said it was easier than there home course and neither had scored more than 30 points all year.

What's your point?

Not another bandit thread ...................is it?

No, I think it's another "Links golf is much harder than parkland golf based on the fact I played on an easy course with a fella who shouldn't be playing off of 22 but isn't a bandit because his handicap is from a links course" thread. Or something like that anyway ;)

Thats certainly appears like its close to the case

I was hoping it was a bandit 1 . three visitors rock up, play together and win 1st 2nd & 3rd... be popular allright ...

I play Parkland , won GM Centenary Qualifier on links ,then the final on parkland , not sure what that says..

Youre close - but no ;)

Darn it

why not its got 9 parkland holes at least:)

I think there might be something in a links is harder than parkland argument, it might make an interesting debate, but muir of ord and Dornoch are not in the same league. If your Dornoch pal smashed his handicap round, say, the kings at gleneagles it'd be a more valid comparison.

I think there might be something in the "some links courses are harder then Parkland courses and some parkland courses are harder than links courses" argument but that a sweeping generalisation that one is harder than the other is both impossible to prove and pointless to argue.

I wonder how they would do around somewhere like Woodhall or Woburn or indeed Centurion
