Interesting par-3

Played at Mumbai's Willingdon GC. Very imperial club where the club house still boasts a lot of things that are a throwback on the days of the Raj. The course is short, but what it lacks in length, it makes up in quirkiness.

The 12th P3 155y was interesting. A water body that has a dried up tree and another one that blooms at different times in the year. You need to clear the tree to get over the water. After the water, there is a small drop zone, then another small water body and then a two tier green. The top tier is flat and the lower tier slopes back into the water. To play this hole, a good high iron that clears the tree and lands on the top tier. Bogie is a good score.
The guy in the pic is on the tee box and the red arrow showing the flag

I got onto the top tier, 1st putt laid up, 2nd putt just touched it and it flew past the hole and down to the lower tier. 2 more uphill putts later ended my misery.

Anyone got similar death holes?

No place to lay up.. unless you consider past the green as a lay up. My tee shot ended up on the fringe at the far end. putted from there to lay up, but the second putt was the undoing
 
what a mental little hole, could only get worse if you had strong wind too! Bet there is some balls in the water though :)
 
According to the caddies, the tree in the centre dried many many years ago and the only way to birdie the hole is to hit one of the birds that fly off the tree when the ball approaches. <caddie humour>

Green slopes severely towards the approach shot (if you're lucky enough to be still in the hole after the two carries)

Where is this? Interesting... assume the line for the tee-shot is about 190-210m towards the left away from the bunkers and then a flick into the green.. two putt for par.. Simples..

^^^ is the correct answer. It is only a 7(ish) iron so should be played as just a straight forward shot to the green. The trees and water are all in the mind to put fear into the player ;)

Agree, hit it properly and the trees, water and everything aren't in play it's only a med-short iron and the trees don't look that tall!

It's at le touessrok GC (a Langer design apparently but suspect he might have ingested some product before thinking that one up!)

Theory is: My line is to the bunker on the left as its on the edge of distance for me even if nailed, then second is still a longer club, tough to hold the green so have to nail it and one lag putt with tap in to follow

Reality is: 1st carry scares me so duff it in the mangroves (environmental hazard with drop zone on far side) green now out of sight & reach so pitch to edge of second carry, chasing the points now so skull the approach over 2nd mango swamp, drop and reload where raised green doesn't hold it, chip up and its heading down the slope, several putts later and its all over (my best ever is a 5!)
 
Sounds easy, as a forummer I just pull the PW, choke down on it as it's only 155yds, launch it high into the Sky and have it land like a butterfly with sore feet right next to the hole. Tap-in birdie, what comes next :D

Next it's off to the 18th at le touessrok, where you have to decide whether to go for the green or lay up short of the second hazard.....
