Inter forum golf challenge

Hello ladies, gentlemen and hairdressers,

After reading a previous post regarding national golf comps run thro' newspapers I was wondering how easy it would be to have an 'INTER GM FORUM CUP'. This would be open to all posters and could be split into regional qualifiers.

Your thoughts please !!!!!!!

Sounds like a damned fine idea, madandra. Would the editorial staff be prepared to make some input with organisation, I wonder?

This sounds like a great idea Madandra. The format for the competition could be agreed via the forum, as well as a contact point to arrange games. I think this would also provide a good monthly column in GM, and if GM could use their influential powers, a good course could be used for the finals. This would benefit the course (publicity) and the finalists. (TPC at Sawgrass sounds good!)

I am glad you like the concept and using Sawgrass would be a dream come true but I would like to see St Andrews used for the 1st year as it would be The Home of Golf hosting the Golf Monthly Forum Finals.

I think a good rule of thumb for qualifying would be that members with more than 10 posts PRIOR to my suggestion and also they must have posted in the last 2 months would be eligible to play.

Could you not play in the Ayrshire section.

I am sure the chaps at GM would help.

Well GM what do you say? There is obviously interest in a competition by members of the forum.
See this as an opportunity to reward our loyalty, all we ask is for your guiding hand to assist in the organisation.
I wonder if a positive vote by members of the forum in favour of this competition would help in your decision making.
We await with baited breath for your answer to our request.
Heaven forbid, we may have to start buying golf world!

Hey Lip, It would take a severe blow to the head for me to buy Golf World. Ma wife once bought me Bunkered when I made the fatal error of asking her to 'pick up my golf mag at the newsagents'. I kept her pin money from her for two weeks.

seriously though I do like the idea although the logisitcs of finding a suitable location/date could be an issue

We are hopoing to do some reader days next year so perhaps could roll it into that?

I'm not lying when I say every single iron shot (bar one) of over 50 yards was fatted or sliced

my week's annual leave starting on Friday may well be spent on the practice ground
