Anyone had any nasty ones this year? I was bitten on my arm by an unknown insect, through a long sleeved t-shirt, on Wednesday at work. It's resulted in 3 trips to the doctors and a visit to A and E on Friday night due to the infection and reaction. Have avoided IV antibiotics but have had the course extended today as it's still not right. Had to cancel all my weekend golf and just cancelled my Thursday competition.

I wear shorts from March till Nov and this year i've have had dozens of bites on my legs. No idea what any of the beasties that bit me were though.

Had one really nasty one from golf, just above ankle, swelled up my leg and lots of yellow pus seeping out. Hadit checked, gave me some antibiotic cream and that solved it.

Lots of buggers about this year . Played early one morning in shorts in July and walked off covered in bites

With my legs and fondness for visiting the rough with the nettles and thistles in I rarely get them out in this country. Been nibbled on the arms by some midges but nothing serious. HID came for a stroll round nine holes and ended up with a whopper on her leg and she stayed firmly on the short grass. Guess who got the blame

Was not a LS ( Liverpool ) bite was it , he has been known to chew one now and again

Got nibbled by a horse fly a few years back and has two have my calf drained every week and was on antibiotics for a month,

Touch wood since then I've got off lightly but a little brighter got me on Sunday and most of that say and yesterday my arm was burning, it's calmed down a touch now but I got a description and I'm after the naughty thing with a battery fly swotter this weekend

Had a few this year despite spraying repellant on liberally. Early on they were big beasties which I felt take a bite but the last one must have been a mosquito as didn't feel it but calf very swollen a few days ago with a single bite. Played Monday evening and the pro was out on an on course lesson...long trousers and jacket and it was hot. Asked "feeling the cold" and he said "making sure I don't get bitten" - so I sprayed some more deet!

Have been munched on a lot this year. Just whack on the repellant every time now. No particular make, just use some of each. Works wonders

At least I've not had pus oozing out or needed it drained.:eek:Thank goodness it's now almost gone. Interestingly found out from the chemist that there's quite a few others had bites that have gone nasty and required hospital treatment but they've no idea what's bitten them either.

Wouldn't have been so bad if I'd forgotten to but on repellant and been bitten at golf but didn't expect it sat in an office.

As Amanda says , spray the deet.
In 2010 I was stung by a wasp 3 times through 4 months, first two, nothing serious but worse than you'd expect, the 3rd nearly killed me.
It always happens to someone else, keep the deet and anti histomines in your bag.
Now is the worst time of year, its getting colder , the're groggy and grumpy.

Don't bloody believe it:rant: Stopped the antib's two days ago as per the GP's instructions and it's come up red hot and itchy and spreading again. I'm off to get a homeopathic remedy as soon as HID is back from golf.

Google "cellulitis" and see a doc if it sounds possible...

Also try an ice pack or frozen peas wrapped in a towel. Always calms my bite reactions down.
