what stuff do people find effective this time of year in stopping insect bites. Sunday and tuesday night i seem to have been chewed to bits by some of mother natures little friends and its now getting boring.

Long sleeves and long trousers.

Never really found any insect repelant that doesn't smell distusting, and also that works.

People swear by Avon skin so soft, which smells ok, but I have not found it that effective.

problem is murph i hate wearing sleeves if poss. if im playing in a sweater on a mild day, as soon as i feel its bareable to be t shirt only off with the jumper. just seem to be bitten loads lately and it seems worse on the early morning or late afternoon rounds.

got to get something as my arms look like ive got the plague and people may start to talk.

Totally agree with Murph. I have some repellant that is very effective that I use up in the Scotish mountains for the midges. The problem is that it absolutely stinks and repells everything within a 10 foot radius including the female of my own species. I have therefore given up wearing shorts for golf (which is probably no bad thing anyway) as most bites I used to get were below the knee. Still get the odd one on the arms but can live with that.

Keep out of the trees not as many incests down the middle of the fairways

its a better line in from the woods freddie, golf just feels weird on the short grass.

I know I play on an island but I have just realised I typed there was more incest in the trees at least thats what my brotherdad told me

I use Jungle Formula and you can get it in most big supermarkets and chemists. I also played with an old bloke at Biggar who had 3 or 4 Lavender magic tree air fresheners on his bag and he told me it kept him free from the wee critters.

We have flys around or course at the minute..

Hateful wee things buzzing around your head when trying to putt and tee off etc.. Was thinking it was the shower gel i used but it seems to be happening to everything.. thinking back on it i think we had them last year as well.

Sometimes feel like carrying fly killer with me, as i be happy enough just to kill off a few of them when the rest of guys finish putting out lol..

I think that may be how it works it does not repel insects as such but hides your smell from them

Always play with someone who wears bright colours and sweats a lot. Guaranteed to get them first :)

Great reply... and i think so true when i think about it.. lol used to think i was getting it back tho guy i sometimes play with would sweat alot more than myself and its 10 times worse for him!!

spot on

Had some anti-histy-whatsits tonight as one of the bites on my elbow seems to have swollen so looks like it's infected, great. Got done sorta stinky jungle punch stuff for tomorrow ;)

don't wear yellow or orange; white is not as bad.
unscented or citrus (I think lime is better) shower gel/soap/deodorant
antihistamin - before you play

fix a candle stick to your trolley and burm citronella candles

the company gave us nijelex (?) when we went to Malaysia

nice one viscount, at the weekend i used some funky smelling bug spary from the local chemist (STANK) and anti-doodaa-whatsits and its seemed alot better.
