Just got back from a&e after a nasty work accident today involving an air-gun in a very tight spot and a rounded off nut.

Basically I have severly smashed-up my right hand, busting some fingers and generally maiming the back of my hand.

Doc has said 4-6 weeks with no golf, no training basically no fun.

All I can say is thank god I can hold a pint in my left hand as tonight, im in bloody agony.

Very upset about this as had been looking forward to joining my new club, getting my new irons and of course the westerham and ascot meets I shall no longer be a part of because of this.

Im off to the boozer shortly to have a right old sulk over a couple of pints of Adnams.

When I first read your post, I thought that someone had fired an air gun at you!!

Sorry to hear about that. I'm sure you're aware not to try playing, as it might only prolong the off period. Despite how tempting it might be. I know that I'd find it difficult to follow docs orders.

Hope it heals quickly for you.

medwayjon, that is really bad news, I hate to rain on your parrade but hand injuries (depending on injury) can take a lot longer than that to heal properly. If there is a need for physio at some stage, take it. A friend of mine got a hand injury and after 6 wks in cast followed by bracing, he then had to have 6 wks of physio before getting anywhere near normal use. I do hope you dont have any probs in the long term with your injury, even a few weeks without golf would be a real pain for anyone. Sympathy with you.

gutted for you mate.

i'm just getting revved up for the coming fun this year and i'd be well p*ssed off if it was me.

hope it heals quickly John.

Commiserations, John.
Can imagine how gutted you are feeling. Keep taking the tablets - especially the kind that come in a glass. should give you a night's sleep if nothing else.

Jeez, that sounds nasty. Are you sure you should be drinking? Will it mix with the painkillers, or are you forgoing these in favour of beer?

Bad luck, but I guess you will need to give it some serious time out.

Get better soon (ish).

Mate what can I say. Just when it was coming together with new irons to test, a new club to enjoy and the forum meets to play in. Its not like Spurs are going to be much help in cheering you up either. I'd stick to the beer and make sure HID gives you plenty of TLC

Big Downer Medway.

Really sorry to hear this - sounded like the season was going to come together for you.
Rest up - and like Hapless says, don't rush to come back too soon as you could only end up damaging something permanently.

Life will go on.........
