For the last 5 years I have owned cheap clubs but only every played about 2 rounds a year as a social thing. I was never much good and would definitely not considered myself as a golfer at all!

In May this year I played my annual round and for some reason something clicked and I really enjoyed myself. I then played for both the following weekends!! That was 3 rounds in 3 weeks, more than I normally play in a year!!

I then played quite a few more times before joining my local club in June. In June and July I played a hell of a lot until I had a niggle in my back. I then played 4 days straight until on the 4th day, hole 3 I collapsed on the fairway after proper doing my back in.. Not good. I couldn't walk for a week, had a load of osteopath appointments, and I was then banned from golf by the Mrs as our wedding was 4 weeks later!

the day I got back from honeymoon I played again and had the best round yet, I had got my handicap down from 35 to 19 in the space of 3 months, and that included 5 weeks off! All seemed fine with my back until I went to the range the other day. I was working on my swing path with my driver and was hitting them longer and straighter than ever, I got carried away and started putting more and more speed into my swing and them boom.. Back twinged again. Nothing like before but I had to stop. I had a few days rest and went back to the range yesterday and took it easy on my swing and had no issues but I know it will probably go again any time!

im gutted, I know I should take a break and recoup but I really don't want to, especially as I have just been fitted for new irons and really feel I can knock a few more shots off my scores! I guess winter is coming so it's a decent time to recover but just as I was getting somewhere I now need a break. I just hope I can pick up where I left off!

Its muscular luckily I guess. I ended up getting a load of acupuncture and deep massages which helped a lot, along with a lot of excercises to help stretch the muscle out. I think i could do a lot better in terms of my pre round warm up too!
