Went to the club today and saw on the notice board that the entry for the Sunday Roll-up (we call it the Teapot) has gone up from £1 to £2 as of this Sunday. Got me wondering. Do you participate in a roll-up and what's your going rate?

Been £2 at mine for 2 years. I wonder why I pay £100 a year to play in yellow tee comps and never get my h'cap adjusted?

I could have had about 2.0 added to my h'cap this year if the gits actually wanted to get the h'caps more accurate. To play off 14 might have been worth the outlay!!

Is all the pot paid out or is some retained by the club Imurg?

We only pay a £1 but some of the total is retained by the club and put to the end of season prize allocations and used for engraving costs. I think the ratio is 60% paid out and 40% retained. This of course means a reduced pot to pay out from in weekly prizes.

There has been suggestion of raising the sweep to £2 and I would support that if it meant greater weekly winnings.

Our saturday roll up went up from £4 to £5 recently. Basically, for £5, you get to play in the roll up, get your first drink paid for, and, if the winner of what is left in the pot decides to, you get a second drink too. Normally the winner does this, and ends up about £20 down on the deal. If the winner takes the pot (after the first drink), then he gets about £70. Taking the cash is very unpopular.
This sounds harsh, but you don't win often, as if you win with 42 points, you get cut 7 shots for next week, and then you get 1 shot back per week til you are level again.

Ours are £2. £1 for the prizes, 50p for twos and 50p for the club. It grates when I come third and win about a fiver, and some muppet gets more for a two simply because there are so few that day... :(
