I'm not sure if it's just me but I've really changed my outlook on "team" golf. I used to really enjoy it but now I'm just not that interested in it any more.

I would so much rather play an individual medal or stableford than any kind of team comp. Maybe it's just because I don't have a regular playing partner, but I get frustrated now if there's not a medal on every weekend.

So I guess the question is individual or team?

I voted individual, but also enjoy team (pairs) comps.

I think the key is to play a mix of both, so you don't get fed up with one or the other. They both have their advantages, like being able to fall back on someone else in pairs, or the more competitive feeling I get from individual events.

I played matches in both our singles and pairs knockout comps on the same day a couple of weeks ago.
I was more disappointed with losing in the doubles than I was happy with winning my singles.

I voted for "team" as we are in the final of the club matchplay pairs.
Win or lose, it's been an incredible journey that I don't expect to repeat ever again.
Normally, I'm selfish and only out for myself....

The match I lost was the s/f. Would have been nice to play in a final, I hope you make the most of it.

Do you know the players you're up against, and do you fancy your chances?

At the Cooden meet on Friday we had a 3 ball Stableford team event in the morning, followed by an individual Stableford in the afternoon. It was nice to be playing with two other guys and getting some cameraderie going, willing each others putts in, and certainly set things up for a more enjoyable round in the afternoon.

Prefer it if i've got my own card in my hand. Although I do enjoy pairs stuff if its betterball. I used to enjoy foursomes a lot years ago but these days not so much , probs cos I cant find a decent partner for that format tbh

I really enjoy team golf, but only now and again. I voted for individual as thats really where golf is at, about you versus the course, trying to post your best round. Well, it is for me any how! :)

For me it's individual. As a relatively new golfer with blow up holes always on the horizon, I like the feeling when I pull it together for myself and also it avoids the feeling of letting the opponent down. When my play improves, I can see my opinion changing!

Yes and yes. We knocked out the strongest pair in the semi's. It's very exciting.

Both for me. I love competitive play with a card in your hand, trying to get the best score you can but I love the different competitive edge a match can give (we usually play 4BBB). I played in a club match last weekend and although we lost our game and the club got beat it was great fun and more relaxed than a medal or stableford

Both, so I didn't vote. I play the weekly medal religiously, but love the bi-weekly club matches as well. There's no fear of missing the buffer zone, you're just out for the match itself, and even if you lose, you can still end up winning. Both equal imo.

If I had wanted to play a team sport, I would have stuck with rugby.

He's means what he says there, at Cooden in the team event he played like a 28 hacker   :D :D

But I did enjoy your company Murph, it was a hoot!! :)

Golfmmad.

I prefer individual. I like team comps and I play inter-club matches because I like the social bit but also it gives me a chance to test my game under pressure. If I had choice between a h'cap qualifier or a team comp I'd go with h'cap qualifier all day long.
