I am proposing our golf club hold an open event on August Bank Holiday.

The club operate a members invitation pairs so I'm proposing an Individual event.

Can I have realistic suggestions on what would be expected as prizes.

I only play at a 9 hole course but if the open goes ahead it will be the week leading to the club championships so the couse will be at it's best condition possible.

Hoping to keep the cost down and have a maximum of 92 players.

A 9 hole course wouldn't be high on my 'to play' list as far as opens go. Your best bet would be to find out what is on offer at other located clubs and take it from there. You're looking at Scratch 1,2 & 3 as well as handicap 1,2 &3. Your rules on prizes need to be well publisised so as to avoid one player scooping up. A lot of work required and maybe not a great interest as it's a nine holder.

Hope you can work something out though.

Also check the fixture lists for local clubs. You might find that most have got one of their 'premium' comps over the B Holiday.

Good luck

Have a look and see what similar courses in the area offer as prizes.

You could go for 6 half decent prizes (assuming you do go scratch/HC 1,2,3) or 2 pretty good prizes and entry fee + token prize for 2nd and 3rd. Maybe look at nearest the pin prize as well. Is there a clubhouse that does food, free meal for 2 or 4 perhaps? 4 ball at a local club (traded for a 4 ball at yours), reciprocal arrangements like that with a few clubs could help 'beef up' the prize list. Maybe get a local business to sponsor some prizes as well.

It really depends on what you think will be needed to pull in the punters.
