So won't bore everyone with the forensic details of a very, very frustrating round that, as the scoring will show, was very up and down.
So I went, par, birdie, par, par... (so far so good I thought)... then... bogey, double, bogey, par, par... the wheels came off but I somehow managed to steady the ship. To the turn... par, birdie... Triple (yep, a TRIPLE), bogey, bogey, par, birdie, par (thought I had glued the wheels on...). A birdie on the 17th had my spirits up as the rain started to fall... only to put my 2nd in the drink on 18 and finish up with a double!

A round that started with promise and me feeling good i myself and my swing just went nuclear for no apparent reason.
This game really can lift you up sometimes... Then you find out that's just so it can kick you right in the kinicke.

On the bright side that even with that destructive run I still beat my usual playing partner 2&1. He did not have a good day at the office at all.

Anyone else have a weird round this weekend?

Too true. My playing partner yesterday, off 9, started par, par, par, birdie, so far so very good, then Triple, triple, triple!!!

I lost my ball on the first, had to jog back to the tee, lost sight of my second tee shot against the clouds. It hit the other player in our three in the leg, on the full. He was ok, and very cool about it. I didn't think I had enough club to even reach. Felt terrible about it and my round went to bits. Made a couple of pars but struggled big time and lost 4 balls and returned my worst score in a year. In a medal. Gutted. What a game eh?

Welcome to the world of the handicap golfer, I think im coming out of a dip (I hope im coming out of a dip)

lets face it, unless you are a single figure golfer, there is no such thing as a repeatable swing, just enjoy the good bits and ignore the bad bits :)

I had a big time bad round, had 41 blows in a 6 hole meltdown through the middle of my medal round yesterday.

Crazy stuff, rythmn and timing disappeared completely.

Played at prestonfield today and was pretty happy with my game, had about three birdies (wasn't keeping score so don't know how well it was going) despite fairly strong wind. However, I managed to lose two balls on one hole.... I don't actually remember the last time I lost a ball!

Commando?

Played today and had 28 points  although it was off the very back sticks (7400 ish yards) and had about a 3 club wind to contend with. Started with a nice birdie then double, double, par, par etc. In the end was delighted with my score.

0 -1 -1 -1 0 +2 +3 +3 +2

+5 +6 +7 +7 +6 +6 +5 +7

I make you 7 over par with 4 birdies playing off 11 (and 1 penalty stroke in there)

What was your post about again???

I was thinking the same. 11 hcp scoring +7 is like a 28 hcp scoring +18 or an 18 hcp scoring +11. Whilst the tripple no doubt hurt, it was still a good score, no? Glass half full and all that or is the OP lamenting he didn't score +4 had the tripple been a par?

What was the post about again? I'm pretty sure the clue is in the title. Its about inconsistency in my game. Not interested or concerned about my score which is why I never expanded on the detail of the actual scores. Just my in ability to play well and, now pay attention as this is the important part, TO CONTINUE TO PLAY WELL....
I would have thought a sharp chap such as yourself would have no problem grasping that conept.
