Does anyone know if handicaps automatically go "inactive" when your club is using hdid?

My friend said he's sure he hasn't played his required 3 comp!!

doesnt happen until end of the year/annual review at ours and dont think its automatic no, albeit we play qualifiers all yar round (good thing as i still need 1 more!)

A handicap only becomes "non competitive" when the annual end of season review is done in December and any who hasn't played 54 holes of qualfiying golf within the past 12 months has their "C" status removed when the report is run

You have a clear year so providing he had 3 last year he's good to next year (if you see what I mean!).

Supplementary scores will also do the job of course - but most people remember those above and beyond comps.

Am i right in assuming away comps count too?
Out of interest how does an inactive handicap go current?

Any Q score counts.

In England, you just put in 3 Q or supplementary cards and your handicap is adjusted on them as usual - after the third you magically become (c) again. Some clubs have their own competition conditions that prevent you playing or competing without a (c), others only restrict major or trophy events.
Scotland used to be different, and may still be. Haven't looked recently.
