In order of importance

If I play good golf and I can look back over my game and enjoy the shots I played and the results I made then winning is not relevant.

This for me too. If I look back on my round and feel I play well, I couldn't care less whether I won or not. I've played with people who are the exact opposite though. They don't really care how they play, or what their handicap is, so long as they win. Can't imagine it makes the game much fun.

1) playing well
2) a competitive game (yes winning, but there is enjoyment in a nip/tuck match, on both ends of the result)
3) weather

Played in our annual golf away trip at Slaley and on the Monday after a very very heavy night I managed to get a 4ball with 3 of my oldest and best mates - from the moment we hit the 1st tee it was a brilliant round. Weather was ok too which helped and the course was decent but the company throughout the round was such a good laugh that it was a perfect round.

Ooh and finishing 1st helped too despite a massive hangover  :whoo:

What 3 things makes for a good day's golfing?

For me it's...

1.Good company
2.Good weather
3.Good course
For me its
1. Good company
2. Good course
3. A good meal afterwards.

Ah, thanks mate.

Come to Lee park and I'll test that thesis to the limit.

1. Good course

2. Good company with good banter

3. Good meal afterwards, and before, and a good halfway house. Actually, can I change my mind.

As much as I'd like to agree with the OP, I'd be lying if I said playing badly doesn't take the gloss off of the day. For me good golf can make up for bad company but good campany doesn't quite make up for bad golf. I'd have to go for...

Good golf
Good company
Good weather

Being a bit of a self confessed 'quality course whore' the course is important to me. But then again, so is the company. And the quality of the golf. Don't like playing in poor weather either.

Goddam you Bob...............I don't know!!!!!!!

At least you can guarantee the quality of the course, but the company is very hit and miss.:D

A 4 ball round the Berkshire on a lovely spring day can be nice.
