After a disastrous competition round yesterday I went up to the course for an early evening knock. Played around a bit and made a few adjustments following Bobmac's suggestions and wow, what a difference!
Never driven the ball as well. Long and straight with a nice trajectory. Feeling the love for my driver again. Played several solo holes, hitting long fairway iron shots. Very, very happy.
Caught up with 2 guys who were practicing chipping onto the 17th. Now these guys are low handicappers and I just stood and watched them. Learnt a bit as well.
I watched them as they drove a few balls each from the 17th tee. These fellas were hitting it miles. They invited me to play up with them. Nervous as a kitten, I teed one up and smashed it down the fairway. (obviously not as far as these guys) But it was a good drive for my standard.
Eventually got to the 18th and we practiced a bit of chipping around the green. Again, I watched them then had a go myself. I was amazed how much better my chipping was afetr watching these fellas.
Over the space of 10 minutes around the green I learnt more from these two about chipping and pitching than hours of solo practice could ever teach me.
Big thanks to Bobmac for the tips, I think you have restored my love for the game. Cheers fella!
