Played in my first ever Sunday medal today.

Now 4 weeks ago i scored a heady 85 gross and as some of you may know aced the 15th last week for a HIO.

Roll up to today and i scored a 13 (yes 13) on the par 5 7th, when i Tin Cup'd 3 straight into the amazon from 150 yards.

7's and 8's all over the place it was a mess.

Anoying thing is that i par'd 3 out of the first 5.

The 13 absolutely knocked me for 6 and it got steadily worse. The heat played a big factor as i now resemble a lobster.

113 gross ..............

My only hope would be that some other poor chap had a worse day than me.

Well the HDID email i received 10 minutes ago confirmed that they never.

Oh well

least i can do any worse. Onwards and upwards:D

I feel for you but if it's any consolation you've made be feel better. I played to 10 last weekend and carded 24 points in a 9 hole Stableford. This week I played to 36 and carded 12 points on the same course over the same 9 holes.

I am awaiting a +0.1 now :(

Don't worry about it mate, you'll shoot a blinder next week. I blew up my medal card with two, yes two, 9's yesterday. Both on par 5's where I OOB'd then 3 putted like a chimp.

I am not to dis-hearted to be honest.

Just need to have a few days off then get back on the horse.

Although the 13 shots happened during an approach, its my driving that is putting me in some right nasty places. Bought a new booms stick a few weeks back.

Think i will get my Old Cobra s3 back in the bag for a few weeks and work on getting my confidence back.

Sounds a bit like my up and down round too, only I came out a bit better. Played in a comp on Saturday, shot 1 X quad bogies, 4 x triple bogies and 3 doubles, but also managed 3 birdies and 4 pars........ standing on 18 a par would have seen me go round level handicap, but alas, 18 was one of the triples....ended up 3 over handicap, but looks like they shaved the 8's down so I hit buffer and didn't get the 0.1 I was expecting. I'm not sure what was going on out there but even managed to come in the top 30% or the field........I'm gonna smile and say thanks under the circumstances.....

I think you deserve a genuine round of applause for your honesty about this round. Not many forumers like to be honest about a bad round of golf.

Chin up though, you're now due a low score and a win!

We all have those days. Golf is a fickle game.

I could be way off on this but I assume from that, that you dropped the balls and played from the same spot like Kevin Costner did. He only did that because he wanted to hit that shot. You don't have to play again from the same spot, there are other options under Rule 26-1. Was there nowehere to drop under the Rules nearer to where the ball went in (i.e. crossed the margin of) the hazard which might have given you an easier shot to the green?

Apologies if you know this and that was indeed your best option in the circs.

Played rubbish yesterday but back on the horse tomorrow. Had been hitting the new clubs well until yesterday so putting it down to a blip. I can go out after work and just play with freedom and not worry about a score.

Yeah i dropped from the same spot.

I was under the impression that because i never lost the ball(s!!) into a designated hazard then i had no option. By designated i mean posted?.

Hang on

When i say Amazon, i meant the woods (rainforest) as opposed to the River (which i presume you mean?)

Either way, after the second went in my thoughts were all over the place, so being rational was probably not in my thinking.

If it happens again then i will step back and potentially hit a punchy 7 iron into the Fairway as opposed to a high 9 iron into the green.

Its all been put down to experience

Thats it my old sausage, blame the clubs, it was their fault after all! :D

Its more that i know my old driver and how it behaves. Don't get me wrong my swing is the culprit at the moment, i am more trying to get a bit of confidence back through feel and looks.

Cheers.

Yes I was thinking Amazon = water, especially with the Tin Cup reference. :D

I know how scrambled you can get. I'm still haunted by an 11 I once took on the last hole of the club Championships qualifier when I was well in for Sunday. Still can't work out how it it came to so many. :o:confused:
