Has anyone made their own impact screen before? If so what did you use?

Is a sheet hung up and something behind, like a duvet or old carpet, enough to stop a golf ball?

Lots of times for many years. The best thing I have found is dust sheets: http://www.decoratingdirect.co.uk/v...EET_6_X_3FT/?gclid=CJnAhYeIv9ACFQaeGwodvnINBw

I get several dust sheets to make layers or fold them to make layers and then put a duvet cover from the charity shop over the top. They usually last a year or so in the wet and cold.

Thanks, this could work - It will be in my garage, mainly used over winter so should last me for what I need

Tie knots in the corners of the sheets like a rag doll, you can then tie cord around the knots and tie to your fence or tree or whatever. Any holes you try and make will become the weak point.

This could be perfect – in the long run I want to project on to it, although I’m trying to do things very cheap… What is the material called??

I just purchased this: https://www.golfswingsystems.co.uk/product/domestic-pro-practice-bay/

The white impact screen is an optional extra and the white one is £80. Chat to Sarah there and I bet she would sell it separately. You could project onto it I would think. Its heavy duty, super quiet and well edged. Just a thought if you want to spend some money down the line.

Once hung a blanket from a wash line - hit the ball straight through it...

I once did the same, swung at it, the wind blew the sheet out the way, the ball hit a bench behind the sheet and came back and hit me in the bits.

Rick G cried with laughter when I recounted that story to him.

I don't know what the material is called I'm afraid. I just know that a lot of people have started using it in home simulator setups. I am looking to setup a sim room myself so it got my attention. It's supposed to be strong, quiet and you can project onto it.

A draft with some lead weights in the hem will do it, too, and it's almost for free.

If it's plain white you even can project onto it.

Mine went straight through and disappeared into the woods. It was a heavy blanket as I thought that would stop it billowing and be a better 'net' - but it's very weight prevented it giving enough - and straight through went my ball...

I think that almost anything will stand a well hitten golf ball if it is fixed at all ends, because it cannot give way anywhere, but if you fix it like a curtain just on the top and maybe add some lead weights on the bottom hem, the energy will spread and even a blanket will stand it.

(Please excuse my poor english, I hope I could make myself understood ... !)

...not in my experience :)

We ended up whacking potatoes at it...great fun
