In the medal, feeling good, I began....

Par after taking a drop from water simply because I hit further than I have before on this hole, then Bogey, again because I hit longer off the medal tees than I normally do off yellows and reached the rough from what was a good looking drive, then Double Bogey (didnt we talk about this recently?)being peeved I messed it up and was playing a blind shot from over a bank after that, pin cut near the bunker, hit the mound of the bunker and it spun back in , this was followed by a Double Bogey on a simple par 3 and followed with a Bogey after finding the greenside bunker with my second shot on a par 4.

So having used up my h/c on front nine :o, I ventured out after a sausage sandwich on the back 9.
Par , then put my next after drop up behind a tree , then a lazy bogey, followed by the perfect birdie on a par 4 :(. I didnt feel through most of the round that I did anything wrong other than turn up :o and hit unexpectedly too far and causing me the most trouble :D.

12 shots gone on the par 3s and 5s alone :(, the frustrating thing is only 34 putts :D :p
Put it down to golfs way of smacking you down when you have been playing great golf recently :D :D

Absolutely spot on! I have had four superb rounds recently, and am awaiting my smack in the face with trepidation.

You've got to suffer the lows to appreciate the highs

I had my best ever back 9 yesterday, scoring 5,4,4,4,4,4,4,4, 5. This after a front 9 of 53 including 8s on the first two holes. I almost walked off the course after those two. But i kept on going and settled down.

Hopefully i can keep it going and get a reasonable handicap this year.

Until yesterday i hadnt played a round since October, a couple of visits to the range in the last 2 weeks confirmed i was still striking the ball quite well.

Off i went yesterday, first hole, par 4 and a major slice off the tee, still scrambled a 6....this continued in much the same vein throughout the front 9 where i scored a massive 12 points!!

I couldnt hit a thing straight, slicing everything!

Golf, however, is a game of two halves and i started the back nine with par, bogey, par, par, bogey amassing 14 points in the process and missing 3 very very good birdie opportunities (my putting was absolutely shocking yesterday ), anyway i finished the back nine with 22 points and played it 7 over par, however i was still slicing most of my woods & long irons.

Back to the range me thinks!

I think I just got over excited having not played comps for a while and maybe tried to impress, which I did really, hitting really long and mostly straight, must remember to ease off next time :D

Played in a 4 ball better ball event yesterday. We got 3 points as a team and my partner contributed on 3 holes. I was playing pretty good golf apart from three 3 putts (which obviously cost us 3 points) but drove the ball the best I have for ages. Long irons (hybids and 5 woods) were tracer like and even my ropey short game stood up to the pressure of a competition. I can see it going wrong in the Lydd challenge on Saturday!
