I'm going to need to buy a second-hand run-around in the next couple of months as I'll need something to use to get me to and from the station when I move house.

Wondered if anyone had any suggestions.

Main criteria;
Cheap to buy
Cheap to run
Could fit a set of clubs in it
Could get child seats in the back

I'd like to spend less than £1500 buying it. Would prefer it didn't look horrendous.

Current ideas are things like; 207, golf, fabia, focus etc...

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Unlucky , i recently sold My 12 year old Focus 75000 miles with years MOT for £500 a great wee car, the new owner was delighted.

we have a 59 plate astra 1.4 petrol (last of the previous shape) would fit what you need and come in under budget. (im not selling! Just saying!)

10-year old Toyota Avensis should fit the bill. Solid, reliable, reasonable fuel consumption, bags of room for golf clubs and kids in the back - thousands of taxi drivers shouldn't be wrong.

I have an 07 Fabia, first year of the newer shape and am very happy with it. Really big inside for the footprint and had nowt go wrong with it really apart from the boot latch.

I might be selling my Skoda Octavia very soon, just over your budget, but not much. Mahoosive boot, good mpg and as every taxi driver will say.....its still good for another 125,000 miles. PM me if interested.

cheers for the recommendations - I'll certainly keep an eye out.

In terms of the offers - it's a bit too soon. I'll buy one just before moving house, which won't be until May. Was just canvassing early opinion.
