thanks for all your replies but now a simple question can I have a putter grip fitted to a chipping club,im thinking of one of those new thicker grips, the round ones, would this be conforming? to the rules?

I don't know the answer to your question but I would be surprised if you couldn't. As long as there are no 'grip alignment aids' on it surely it would be ok? But, like I said I don't know.

I don't see where it states you couldn't do it (provided the grip is circular in cross section). I can see that you can't use a non circular grip except for on a putter. I might have missed it though.

If your putter grip was circular, it would just be a grip on a putter and the OP wouldn't be making a differentiation between the two.

He's not differentiating though, he says it would be a round one. Dunno why you would wanna do it mind you.

Not being pedantic here btw, just curious as to how anyone can say that's a putter grip and you can't use it......provided its circular of course! :)

Just a thought, a lot of standard grips have a spine down the back to help with grip alignment. So technically are not truly round.
