Well, two days into my second pilgrimage of the year to Whitby. Didn't have time to play 18 this morning so played the 11 holes on the seaward side of the road. 1 through 9, 17 and 18.
The first nine comprised 4 bogies, 4 pars and a birdie, for a 3 over par front nine. The 249yd par 3 17th gave me a par, then bogied the par 5 18th. All in all 4 over for 11 holes. Bearing in mind I am usually low to mid 90's, it was all a bit surreal. Didn't hit many greens in reg, but what I did do was play well from inside 30 yds. The difference I guess. Doesn't count for diddly squat really without a complete round, and I'll never know how good (or bad) it could have been.

I hate it when that happens, I usually am about 16 over on the front 9 and 14 on our back. Except for the one time when I only had time to do the front 9, I went around in 7 over, if I could have played the back in the fashion, well, I'll just never know

That's damned good scoring up here on a windy day like today... I say old chap, well played!
Many thanks, although blowy it was manageable. Nothing like the gusts we had later on in the morning. It was also a friendly fade tempering wind on most of the tough driving holes. The down hill, wind behind 7th (317yds) was a
6 iron and a flick with a 60*.
We'll see what tomorrow brings.

Ah but the inland holes can screw up a score very easily, trust me as I only just made it through them.

Sadly I won't get back to Whitby again this year, unless I can squeeze it in just before Xmas like last year. I should be making more frequent trips there to take the baby to its grandparents, but sadly only one trip will be a summer one (a week).

.
Really. I find the inland six holes less daunting. Although I did take three off the tee on the 10th yesterday thanks to a wayward drive. Ended up with a 7. Pulled it back a bit on the par 3's with a couple of pars. Managed to go through the inland six in 33 shots yesterday, with a couple of 3 putts!
