Last qualifier of the season today, medal format. A gross 79, three under handicap needed for single figures!

After 9 holes I was 5 over, level on handicap.
Made a lovely two with a shot on the 10th to put me two under handicap.
Par with a shot on the 15th to put me three under handicap, now all I needed to do was finish the last three holes in one over par….
Put my tee shot on the 16th under a tree, chipped out and made bogey. :(

Parred the 17th and came to the par 5 18th, four shots later I was looking at the longest straight, uphill three footer I’ve EVER faced, pulled it a little but not enough to take it away from the hole and down it went! I was almost shaking.

I've now got the long wait for the results to appear on HDID, CSS of 72 and I've achieved the hacker's dream!
It's not gone below 72 all year but conditions were good today...

Nice!

Whatever happens you know 2 things:
1) That you played to single figures so even if the CSS drops, you can do it again.
2) Under pressure you held it together and can do it again.

Good stuff!

Great shooting. Good luck with the CSS. Like Mattyboy says, if it doesn't happen you know you can do it again (if you have a whole winter needing a 0.1 cut you'll probably go out and blitz it in a real anti-climactic first qualifier next year), but what a great end to the season it'd be for you.

It's one thing to shoot a good score, it's a different thing altogether to do it when you need to. Well played mate

I have everything crossed for you.

Cheers pal!

To be honest I didn't think it would happen today but after the birdie on the 10th, with the rest of the easier back nine to come, the chance was there and thankfully I kept it together.

Great going, love the pressure of the last putt, delighted you holed out! Well, did CSS play kindly? Either way you're not far off chap, only a matter of time.

CSS didn't stay at 72. :(

It went up to 73! And on top of the 0.8 cut to 9.1, I had an ESR of 0.5 so my new exact is 8.6, well chuffed!
Surprised it went up as I didn't think conditions were that hard, although there were a few tricky pin positions. I also came thrid in a field of exactly 100, which was nice.
