So in some form of mischievous Disney/Quantum leap twist you have miraculously become the editor in chief for the number one golf mag in the galaxy. Your diary is clear and you can commission anything you like (and it will happen). So how do you spend your day and what feature article do you commission?

I'd commission a feature on charting the golfing year of a particular un-named Dorset golfer. Charting the highs & lows of a 10 handicappers' on going struggle to regain his single figure status.

Within this there would be an opportunity for said golfer to focus purely on golf for this 12 month period, so salary would be met, a new custom fit bag provided, membership fees met and golfing wardrobe provided.

sounds like a winner

I'd choose a top course, either my favourite or one I'd love to play but haven't yet, and sort a round out there with the aim of writing a piece about it.
Hopefully I'd get to comment on the brilliant welcome (freebies given to me by the pro etc), top quality and condition of the course and brilliant food and drink afterwards. All of which shall of course be free

The feature article I would commission would be about why contributors on golf forums get so upset so easily about things which really don't matter.

I'd commission a special edition to showcase Ladies Golf. I'd also personally conduct a full detailed review of Las Vegas based golf tours with the Caddy Mates.

Actually, I remember watching Top Gear once where James May posted a lap time and then spent the day with Jackie Stewart trying to improve rapidly.

I would commission a section where one lucky reader received a weeks worth of intensive lessons after posting a score to see how much they could improve after 7days.

I would be setting up a detailed piece on how Augusta plays outside of the Masters. I would, of course, have to play the course a number of times to get a feel for the place when the crowds have gone. I would, perhaps, have to compare the experience with a few rounds at other famous US courses and so a trip to Pebble Beach would have to on the agenda as well.

I'd commission a tour of clubs to find out which sold the best real beer and I'd head the tour myself ;)

On my findings and full feature report, I would make sure that the chosen brand and beer sponsored a specific monthly feature in the magazine, of course this would mean a full year of real beer had to be supplied for my personal consumption

I like the idea of a tour to find the best pint at a golf club. Add to that a challenge as to who makes the best bacon roll and I would be in heaven.

Morning time, Titleist vs Mizuno vs TM vs Nike test off, invite Rory along to try them all, woods and irons. Lunch time, couple of slugs down the pub and a basket of chips
Afternoon, pull out the ban hammer and bonk a few heads, ban blogs and limit posts to 5 lines of text, like twitter, no more boring slogs to ignore. It would keep everyone on their toes and try to find better ways of expressing themselves rather than just throwing a bajillion words at it.

I would give all staff who've been there for nearly 11 years an immediate 50% pay rise...
...for a day :ears:

I would reward Tiger for all his Mag input with the his choice from the GM freeby cupboard

Anyone with a post count between 7453 and 7463 on 2nd July 2013 to be furnished with behind the ropes access to the Open this year:thup:

An article on Amateurs over 50 who still think they can compete the way they did at 20:whistle:

and a monthly draw for forummers who could pick one half page article to be included in an edition of the mag- Golf related of course.
