At most clubs the post of Captain carries quite a bit of prestige and responsibility as well as being able to push through some of your own ideas. This would leave your stamp on the course / club.

What would you do ???

I would put a couple of new bunkers in. Short right on the 5th and left of 10. However I'd like my captains legacy to be a dedicated short game area but doubt cost and the fact I'll never be in post will scupper that

Get them to do the following:

Employ a qualified Green Keeper
Try to remember it's a golf club and not a BAR with a course attached to it

change the ambience of the club to one more resembling a good resort course i.e smart non scruffy clothes, 5 star service from all staff (doesnt need money just attitude), attention to detail on how the course and club are presented.

do a lot to encourage the jnrs both male and female, that means funds invested and man hours- they are the future of ordinary clubs and must be nurtured.

Just more comps in general and more different formats. Junior comps, high/med/low handicap comps, mixed.

A more relaxed atmosphere in the clubhouse with a sports bar for casual wear.
