I'm due a new set of irons and have a couple on my hit list, just thought I'd see what the forum would select given the choice;

  • Mizuno MP-H5
  • Mizuno MP-25
  • Srixon z545
  • Titleist AP2
  • Callaway Apex CF16
  • Ping I series

AP 2 or Ping I although I'd probably try and hit the Cally as well. Not sure the others appeal as much to me. It's all a personal choice though

The simple answer is whatever works best for you, try them all. narrow it down to 2 or 3 then have a good session

Distance, dispersion, accuracy, looks, price .....all are factors that you need to take into account

Fact. nobody on here can tell you which set will be better for you

Out of those then Srixons or new AP2's.

I got the Cobra Fly Z + though ;)

New at this game, but the assistant pro at my club just spent the best part of £600 on a set of Nike's, and says they are the dogs bowlarks

No doubt the post of the day

Not sure, but you'll have plenty fun testing them all..

Oh, and if you prefer the Mizuno MP H5's, then I'll shortly be putting a set in the "for sale" section with KBS C Taper Reg shafts :D

I tried the bottom 3, for almost an hour and the apex cf were unreal!

Depends what you want cast or forged, distance and forgiveness over feel and workability I've not tried all of them but for me the srixons are a contender and I am seriously considering these. They do have stronger lofts but have a great combination of distance and forgiveness with a forged head. That's my choice though.

I found the mp25 to be rather unimpressive, I wanted the mp15 and tried both, neither was great imo, which I was actually quite disappointed with. I bought the rsi tp, as the numbers were better for me. I tried over a few sessions though just to be sure that I was happy, try them all and see what you find best then go back for another go to be safe, it's big dough for new bats so no need to rush.

I'm not asking for advice just interested in what others would choose. I'm definitely going to try them all out and make an informed decision based on feel, looks and performance.

I think the ping would be best, Ping generally are best.

Still would need to hit them when the swing is back to normal. I havent used it since the end of summer...
