Do these flexibility stretches!

http://www.menshealth.com/fitness/flexibility-exercises

I've been doing them all week and I'm totally amazed at the results. Due to my job, I put a lot of strain on my shoulders, back and hips. All that adds up to limited flexibility come the weekend and golf.
I wake up most days with a sore/stiff lower back. Since I started doing these stretches, all numbness/stiffness/soreness has disappeared.

Being able to freely rotate my shoulders and hips is :thus:, I played today for the first time this week (after a few months of rubbish golf) and my game has come flooding back. 100% certain because I'm not stiff/sore.

Give them a try and stick with it for a week. I'd love to see if it helps anyone else too! :)

I started doing a Pilates group with a bunch of guys from the village I live in. 5 of us are all in the age group from high 50's to low 70's and are regular golfers. Without any doubt these weekly sessions have helped us all with flexibility and I don't seem to get the lower back pain that never stopped me playing but was always a real niggle. The beauty of a session with a trainer is that we tend to get the moves right and are less likely to over exert our joints in each move.

If you get the chance it's to be highly recommended

Cheers. I will start doing these this week.

Currently using a foam roller any time my back feels tight. Saving me a fortune on chiropractor fees.

That's a good bunch of exercises

Ever since i did my back in about 8 years ago and after a spine rehab course at Headley Court one of the main exercise they recommend is Pilates or Yoga - since then every week i do the same stretches at least once a week if not more

Still get back pain but I know without the stretches at times i would struggle to walk

Always warm up. I find all the golfers that don't warm up or who don't exercise/eat healthy are the ones who generally have injuries and are fat, funny how it correlates.

Not for me I'm afraid with my health issues and I'm more than happy to do my own thing and know my limits. That said, I'm sure many people would benefit from some good exercises. I simply do some light stretching and then hit some balls before I go out
