Have any of you lads that have ICY wedges got an update on how they are performing now you have had them in the bag for a while?
I'm still pondering whether to get some or renew my Vokeys.

Based on watching Gibbo with them yesterday he seems happy with his and with full shots in they dont half spin a lot. Dont think you'll hear a bad word from him on them. Thought they looked nice in the flesh and could certainly be tempted if and when I need to replace my wedges

apart from my yips around the green yesterday (mental block/technique) I am super confident on full-3/4 shots with them. I also find my distances are a lot more consistant. 95-110 full GW and 70-90 full swing or slightly gripped down.

Also I was happy to really open the face to go over tree's and if anything hit it too open a couple of times and came up slightly short but still there or there abouts.

Happy as Larry with mine. Learning to play a whole new type of short game that I never knew I had. Practicing with them a lot and chipping in during practice way more than ever. Fundy's right, on full shots they spin like crazy, have found myself off the front of the green a couple of times with deep pitch marks a couple of yards on.

Still good service from Iain too, he texted me the other day asking how they were and whether I wanted to arrange a day to go get the face refinished.

dotty, Iain is a top fella, the fitting (could be classed as a lesson in the short game aswell) was extremely thorough as was the follow up when I collected the wedges. Add on the custom engraving etc and for me its a no brainer.

I will definitely go back every time I need new wedges. I also had the email for a follow up/refinish but at the mo there is no need as they still look great.

Sounds awesome , I was going to go for the cleveland trade in but think I'm going to wait till the end of this season then pay him a visit

Going Saturday after a long talk with Iain today. Sounds like your getting A1 service and personal touch and custom grind to you instead of the generic thing that Vokey Cleveland and others are coming up with. Looking forward to it.

Metal Mickie off here has an ICY wedge and they look really smart, he also hit it very well for an older gent:whistle:

I'd be interested in them but not too sure who stocks them by us.

It involves a fitting, so there needs to be a meeting. Google ICYGolf for contact details.

Gibbo, turn your pm's on la.

I was really tempted when I read threads a while back, but having just spent my hard earned on 4 Cleveland RTX 588 wedges there is no way I can justify changing.

That written were any of the ICY lads using Cleveland 588 wedges previously and what do you feel is the main difference? I may still be tempted come Christmas time to make a change.

After talking to him yesterday, what Iain wants to do is provide a service and product that he wanted to do when he was at Cleveland Golf. But it never came off so he branched on his own. I've got 3 newish RTX 588s but I will change them to his. Grind to your swing, no brainer.

Is the fitting on a grassed range area?

...and there was me saying what a nice bloke you are. Older gent indeed!!

Seriously as the forumer that first mentioned these I can only endorse all the positives about the quality, value and service.

Khamelion.

Yes I was previously using 588 RTX forged and sometimes Mizuno MP 12R's. Liked them both but neither felt as good nor gave the results I am getting with my ICY's.

I'm not used to compliments MM!

On a serious note, i'm considering trying these but just wanted to know a few things before i trek over.

Is the fitting on a grassed area, What's the turn around time build wise?

In my case we did the first fitting using a mat at Iain's workshop, then three days later, after the wedges had been assembled , a further fitting using the short-game practice area at Kilworth Springs before returning to the workshop for final adjustments (grinding etc;) and personalisation, i.e. having Ol' Boy engraved upon them.

So less than a week for the whole process and none of the BS that you might sometimes experience with custom fit from the big manufacturers.

If you do come down and fancy a game whilst you are here give me a shout.
