was out walking the dogs tonight and saw an Ice cream van pulling into the Caravan Park by the Caledonian Canal..

Not seen one of those in quite a while, even more unusual was the music it was playing!!!!

The theme from "Tales of The Unexpected"

Reminds me of the day I sent lad to the ice cream van with a quid. He fancied a 99 which was 99p he asked how much for a bubbly 1p. Lad changed his mind on the ice cream and came back with 100 bubblys.

Sounds like you moved into another dimension. Do they play golf over there?

When I was a kid my mum and dad used to tell me that if the ice cream van was playing a tune that it meant they'd run out......

Tried the same with my daughter, doesn't seem to work so well.......

Final word on the subject.....Feasts aren't called feasts anymore and they're about half the size and three times the price that I remember them in the 1980's.....

Anyone remember the Dracula ice lolly? Black on the outside and red jelly in the middle.

Midnight mint was another personal favourite.

Today the ice cream truck at Reilly park in Calgary was playing Christmas music, in the usual plinky plonky ice cream truck style however...

Glasgow was infamous during the 80s for the ice cream wars with operators resorting to extreme violence to protect their territories. (Mind you it wasn't just ice-cream that was being sold from their vans.)

there was a Scottish comedy film, Comfort & Joy that was unfortunately overtaken by real life events at this time. Still a good laugh though. "Not the velour seats" ;)

the one round here plays the theme from "Roger Ramjet" but never stops at ours
That would be "Yankee Doodle Dandy" :D
What amazes me as they all sound off key and warbled.
And I have now found the source of the person who paints the vans....;)

Some great Scottish films around that time. Gregory's Girl and Restless Natives being 2 others
