i went to the range today and i was trying my 8 iron and i was hitting it 150-165 yards but i was hitting my 7 and 6 iron the same. does anyone know why ?

8 iron 150-165 yards is that good ?

The distance it goes is irrelevant Mitch, knowing how far you can hit it every time you pull one out of you bag is what it's about.

15yds tolerance on something as lofted as an 8i is not very good I'm afraid. Try going back next time and trying to hit your 8i 150yds every single time.

i was hitting it pass the 150 mark most of the time.

Good for you, my 8i is 150 - 155yds in flat still conditions, if i hood the face and deloft it it a bit I can get one to go about 165yds, par 3 yesterday was wind down so I hit 8i 181yds??

The point is Mitch, it matters not one bit how far it can go, it's hitting it to as exact a distance as possible on demand that makes a decent player.

Whatever distance your's goes with a nice controlled swing is the yardage you should work to and be trying to make the dispersion as tight as possible around that figure.

Telling everyone you hit 8i 165yds on the xth hole doesn't carry much weight when it's gone 15yds over the back oob!!

It seems strange that you were hitting all three clubs the same distance. I would suspect it's the indian and not the arrows. You must be doing something strange. IMHO.

i do all the same swing and stance but the same for the 3 clubs :S

Welcome tothe forum. Where are you based and where do you play. What's your handicap?

I think if I was you I'd be concentrating on getting a decent dispersion between my irons and not focussing on hitting any particular one x yards. I'd be wanting to be certain my 6 iron (for arguments sake) went 155-160, my 7 150-155 and my 8 iron went 145-150 so that I could club accurately.
